open headphones AND speakers = Wow

I'm sure this is committing audiophile debauchery of some sort... but have you ever tried listening to your headphones and your speakers at the same time? I forgot to turn my bedroom amp off, so I was listening to my Senn 650 and my VS VR1 simultaneously. The sound is awesome! You get all the detail and the resolution from the headphones, but also get the body and "soundstage" from the speakers. Give it a try sometime, if you dare...

I've never seen anyone doing this, but I do see people wearing both a belt and suspenders.

But seriously, if it works for you, go with it. To heck with everyone/everything else.

I revived this old topic because I do this sometimes, if you have a way to play with the delay a bit you can get some very interesting sound. I also hesitated to bring this up and did a search to see if anyone else has posted such sacrilege. lol

ha, that actually sounds pretty awesome.  And I could swear something similar happened to me once where I heard both the headphone and speakers going.

Have to admit I have done the same once accidentally too.
Thought someone had supercharged my headphones until I twigged what I had done!

May just have to revisit deliberately although I generally only reach for the cans late at night so as not to disturb the household.
