old JBL studio monitors
I have JBL 4333AWX's (basically the studio version of an L300). With Quicksilver KT88 monoblocks I find them smooth and very relaxing. 
Good ROCK speakers
I am a rock, soul, funk ect fan and own a pair of JBL 4333AWX cabs. Basically the professional version of the L-300. Don't believe the hype, horns image well, although room treatment and placement is crucial. Sure they sound like crap for the clas...

Thanks for the response. One last question if I may..I also noticed (hard not to) that it makes a whir like sound and slight hum when powering up then becomes clear. Takes about 2 seconds. Is this too normal?

Can't argue a good point!! JBL's are well crafted, rocking boxes. Keep those six inch drivers leaves the big un's for the rest of us!!
