Should I upgrade my system while losing my hearing?
I use digital hearing aids and really like them. When tested, 4k and up were found to be way down, something like 40dB (I don’t remember exactly but it was significant.)Correction was setup to less than 100%. I was told that I’d have a problem wit...
DC Offset Blocker/Killer - where to buy in the USA
What about trying a 3000 microfarad 200v non polar cap in series with your line to block dc if there is any. Also if the line cord is flipped over (left prong on the right) shouldn’t the buzz move to the other transformer?Otherwise I’d think you s...
Why Power Cables Affect Sound
Lots of highly subjective discussion.I will look at my AC at the receptacle then after the surge suppressor then after the power conditioner. My scope is only good to 100MHz but I think that that should be sufficient. Anything AFTER the power cond...
What is the most dramatic way of increasing a speaker's Bass and Low mid?
Why not download REW (it’s free) and drop 100$ on a USB mic with a calibration file. Next, measure your system. Perhaps moving your speakers around may help, perhaps not. I suspect that your 6.5” drivers are just too small but you really need to m...

DIY ?uestion
@trelja In addition to big, very LF TLs, I built a series of small TLs using 4" LF drivers. The first iteration used a higher Q driver that refused to deliver the calculated 56kHz roll-off until a bit of putty was added to the driver dust cap. The...
DIY ?uestion
I have built a number of transmission lines. Generally, I’ve set the line length to be 1/4 of the wavelength of the lowest frequency but assume that the packing effectively reduces the speed of sound by 1/2 (most likely because of the packing (I u...
Help with advice for high end speaker cables for my system!
I use two lengths of audio snake cable for each speaker (I am bi-amped so each side gets 4 lengths.) This cable has 24 shielded pairs of silver coated copper. After stripping, the pairs and shields are twisted together and tinned with high silver ...
New speakers for my system
I’ve been real busy with work so this is the first time I’ve had to catch up on this thread. Thank you all for your suggestions. Update:Just repositioned my mid-highs to more closely align with both the vertical and time axis of the TLs. WAY BIG i...
New speakers for my system
The Jordans look like an excellent solution. They may solve my rooms asymmetricality issue and will likely mate well with my T-lines. Thanks for the suggestion!
New speakers for my system

New speakers for my system
Thank you for your suggestion. I am a bit apprehensive about using ribbon drivers for several reason:Firstly, my listening room is asymmetrical with one side with a partial corner thus being likely problematic;Secondly, the size of the Magnepans w...
Help! Power question
Perhaps a Sola constant voltage transformer would solve this issue. We used to use these for isolating test equipment. I have seen them on ebay for not much. Like under $200 for a good sized unit.
Experiences with miniDSP 2x4? Noise?
I have been using a Minidsp 2/4 balanced for several months now. It is imo the most significant upgrade to my system I’ve yet made. I use the bal outs of my Mcintosh C41 into a Classe CA 101 and a Classe 100. They power custom speakers : ported fu...
