Would appreciate advice on speaker-amp pairing
Thanks for the replies. I think it makes great sense. Will get the speakers and try them with all the 3 amps i have: wyred4sound, Mac and the Consonance monoblocks. This is an interesting project, I'm excited.
Best car audio, Burmester? highly disapointed
Wow, had not visited the site for some time. Interesting reading all the responses. Anyway, I have had a chance to try the Meridian audio in my new Range Rover Sport. This one does not have the dynamics the Burmester had. However, the midrange and...
PS Audio PWD MkII vs W4S DAC2
After playing a few days and connecting the bridge, I have to say the sound continues to improve and the soundstage has opened up significantly. Also, I was trying to figure out the best connection for the bridge and integration with my Apple airp...
PS Audio PWD MkII vs W4S DAC2
Sorry to bring this thread back to life again. I just got my me pwd ii with bridge. First impression out of the box is that it is inferior to my oppo 95 at least through the coax cable. It has narrower soundstage and seems less extended. Now I am ...
When Bi-amping is there change in sensitivity
Thanks for your response, Al. The tube amp in question does have level control to try to match the gains in case of bi-amping. You mentioned active crossover, would that be a more preferable approach over the passive bi-amping? In that case I woul...
Anyone heard Jamo R909 dipole speakers?
Kr4, I just realized that you are the same KR reviewer for Stereophile. I have to say that I have read many of your articles and have enjoyed them. First, I will tell you the I don't mean to bash either B&W or SF, these are great loudspeakers....
Anyone heard Jamo R909 dipole speakers?
Kr4, Thanks for the link. As for the B&Ws and SFs, I heard them at the dealer in an acoustically treated controlled audio room with Mcintosh gear (McD500, C50, MC601s). My JBLs are in a slightly smaller room. I am sure there may be many factor...
Best Speakers for around $2000
Look at the PSB imagine Ts, which cost around 2K for the pair.
Paradigm S8 vs. Sonus Faber Cremona M
I have made my decision and even though I like paradigms they are out of the question. My list is down to 3 speakers, all in the same price range in this orderB&W 800DSonus Faber ElipsaRevel Ultima Salon 2I am leaning towards the B7Ws at this ...
Paradigm S8 vs. Sonus Faber Cremona M
Hifihvn, all the links you have provided are for their studio line, which are lower models and do not contain the higher grade beryllium tweeters, which the S8s have. The reference studio line costs less than halfof what the S-line paradigm speake...
Best tube preamp ever
My list had trickled down to:VTL 7.5 or 6.5VAC MK3Eistein MKiiIt seemed the VTL would be a better value overall, but man, it looked like a 1980s VCR. I was seduced by the German Eistein MKii looks and the amazing reviews that were out there about ...
Best tube preamp ever
Thanks for all the comments, I really appreciate it. To answer some the the comments above, I do agree that "best" is a relative word in the world of electronics and very subjective. And I do agree that most have not listened to everything out the...
Best tube preamp ever
My current system is a modest one at best. It includes affordable hifi gear that many of you may lought at. I am at the stage where I am moving into my new home and want to build a new state of the art hifi system. I am trying to get info on which...
Paradigm S8 vs. Sonus Faber Cremona M
I am relatively new to this and this will be my first jump to so called high end stuff. So please give me examples of better neutral electronics than Mac for me to check out. I have heard of Krell, Ayre and Bryston, is that what I should be lookin...
Paradigm S8 vs. Sonus Faber Cremona M
Thanks for all the comments.Playing at higher volumes is important to me. I was also thinking to match these with Mcintosh Mc601s with their 2300 tube preamp. I just love the way Macs look. Would the mono blocks be to much for the Cremona Ms? Also...
