Where do I start?
Great stuff Doug. Thanks very much.
Personal speaker evolution
Just another word, after 30years the Monteverdi system is still playing 8-track and all in my dads street rod shop. I'm not sure it doesn't sound any worse. But then I'm not sure it could sound any worse.
Where do I start?
I am starting from scratch, again. My budget would be in the $1000 range for the table and set up. No set budget for albums. I'll just keep building.I listen to a variety of music. Rock, jazz and blues mostly. But not limited to those. My equipment...

Cool topic.1.Monteverdi Stereo/8-track system. Actually made by Zenith, which really raises the quality level. Ha.$-Christmas present2. DLK 1's. $-Probably around $100.3. Borrowed a set of early 70's model Jensen's. Had those along with the DLK's ...
Your 5 Fav Rock Concerts
#1 1981-J.Geils at Curis Hixon Hall in Tampa. Some band I had never heard of named U2 opened up for them. Both were great and J. Geils came back for a third encore for about 50 people after the lights had come 20 minutes earlier.#2 Stones at Tampa...
Help? Paradigm Studio40/ Def Tech or GMT Europa
Your set up sounds very familiar to mine. I own the 40's and would not recommend them for two channel in your situation. I am not real happy with in mine. The 20's are actually better due to better bass response. Paradigm's are a little bright and...
Upcoming plasma 1080p tv's vs Sony SXRD LoCS?
Anyone noticed the pink tint on the Sony SXRD besides me?
DVD PLAYER RECOMENDATION
If it's not too late, I own the Denon and would not recommend it. I have a Panasonic DMR-E80H which has a hard disk and DVD recorder which cost $699 two years ago and it kills the Denon 1920. You can probably get the same thing new for around $300...
Recommendations on movie scenes for subwoofers
U-571 or the drum/bean sequence in House of Flying Daggers. That will also give you a great surround demo.
Please recommend DVD Recorder w/hard-drive.
I have a Panosonic DMR-E80H. About 1-2 years old. Current models are pretty much the same. Pretty easy to use once you master the instruction book. Not the best read though. Video is excellent via hard disk and DVD. Bought an upscaling DVD and the...
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
SRV. Listening is one thing, but to have actually seen him do it(3x)was incredible. That man made a lot sound from one guitar. It literally sounded like 2 or 3 at once.
What music do you want to play really loud?
The entire Metallica Black Album. Fleetwood Mac-Don't Stop from The Dance DVD. The USC marching band horns are sweet. Rob Zombie-Dragula. Stevie Ray Vaugh-Tin Pan Alley, actually, anything by SRV.
Recommended DVD-A Titles?
Metallica-Black AlbumSound is incredibly clear and clean. Drums are sheer power. Good use of all channels without being gimmicky.I also agree with the Shangri-La suggestion.
