Best tubed full-function preamp with remote I would like to thank all contributours to this thread. It has helped me with my decision. I finally settled for a ModWright LS 100 which is now installed in my system. I have replaced the stock tubes by apropriate NOS tubes and the preamp is curr...
Best tubed full-function preamp with remote Looks as if I should seriously consider not only to replace all tubes related to the signal pathway (which I did) but also relatd to rectification. Not everybody agrees that this is necessary...??? It is certainly worth experiemnting - and it look...
Best tubed full-function preamp with remote The search is over...after much soul searching and considering my bank account I finally settled for a ModWright LS 100 with phono. I have already ordered sophia electric 6SN7 for the line stage and CIFTE 12AU7X for the phono. With my tube modded ...

What tubes for sibilant SET Triode amp Roomsize and listening preference make me listen at 85dB max.most of the time..so even with my Gallos rated at 89 dB - there seems to be plenty of headroom for my amp that is rated 25w. And in fact it can go MUCH louder than I care for before dist...
SET amp for Gallo ref 3.1 BobheinatzI could not agree more with you - but as you state yourself size maybe a part of the SET fancy; to get a good below 50Hz response you simply need a lot of bass membrane surface combined with enough cabinet volume to get there on puny pow...
SET amp for Gallo ref 3.1 Bobheinatzsounds a bell with me.....driving a pair of Klipschhorns in my basement with a slightly modified set of the old Quad 22 (not SET I know). Each time I listen to some small scale jazz on that setup it sounds REAL. Unfortunately my living r...
SET amp for Gallo ref 3.1 From the posts I glean that I seem to value SET "glory" over neutral sound....shame on me! The Music Reference have been on my list to listen for a while as they seem to be well built and powerful. The Canary would currently break my bank - althou...
SET amp for Gallo ref 3.1 Thanks Richard for making me aware of the Butler Amps. Having read some on the internet I can not claim to know whats going on inside them - but they shure look like a great match for the Gallos. As for the SET glory I see that I would need an ultr... |
