Thinking about buying new speakers....the Elac Uni Fi5 towers or the Klipsch hersery lll
Klispch is more versatile with amplifier choices. I own some Heresy 3s, but my recommendation would be to get Spatial Audio M4 TurboS' they're better all-around speakers for the same price. Unlike the H3s, they'll sound good with your current amp.
Recommendations for improving visceral impact?
Replace those B&W with super large JBLs - done.
Klipsch!. The worst speaker company, EVER?
^The current Heritage line is not bright by today's standards. They're certainly no brighter than the average B&W, Focal, Paradigm, Monitor Audio or Revel speaker.
Klipsch!. The worst speaker company, EVER?
A review of the heresy III's from a reviewer that I have bought products on his recommendation/s with no ill affects. Basically I have trusted him since the 90's. http://audiocounsel.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/Klipsch-Heresy-III-Review-HiFi-...
Klipsch!. The worst speaker company, EVER?
I have had several older Klipsch as well as their latest Heresy the titanium drivers are very decent , the connectors ,wiring and Xover suck bad cheap junk no name parts .So now Clarity Caps are "cheap junk no name" parts? Funny.
Klipsch!. The worst speaker company, EVER?
Interesting that he is saying " if you like female vocal, like Diana Krall, or other female vocals like her, I can see using this speaker ".That statement, along with the fact he's a CV fan, just proves he hasn't much experience with really good s...
What's your go-to cheapie cartridge?
Doesn't really qualify anymore since the cartridge can no longer be had for $99, but it was the Shure M97xe w/Jico SAS stylus (boron version). I like it far better than a popular cart that retails for $999.Even my Hana SL was not a huge improvemen...
Why so many used focals?
They're bright and forward. Unfortunately for them, it doesn't really pay dividends in detail. Focal and brands of their ilk lead to one place: another ride on the merri-go-round.
Horn based loudspeakers why the controversy?
Except music with a 5 string bass at 31hz for the low B, percussion overtones, pianos, the ambient sound around live orchestras, life...etc....Well. life is not music, but yes, there are a fair number of sources for below 40Hz bass. Still, a lot o...
Vinyl***What If***
To the OP - Here’s the my view on this...you have no legacy vinyl, so no real need to invest in a vinyl rigyou are not "inclined" to invest time and effort involved in setting up, maintaining and eveolving a vinyl based systemany "low end" vinyl s...
Which courier do you prefer?
Do you also have bad experience with Fedex?Quite the opposite. I've only had a couple bad experiences with Fed Ex, but I refuse to use UPS for equipment anymore. The worst Fed Ex has done was break a large tree branch when backing up my driveway. ...
Horn based loudspeakers why the controversy?
The bass was AWOL at 40Hz; a fact I couldn’t live with. Bass may have been AWOL below 40Hz, but are your Focals really better in this regard, or is it just their exaggerated upper bass you’re mistaking for bass depth? The Focals are about 5db down ...
New speakers? No thanks.
I think I’ll just save my pennies, and try to get my wife wasted enough someday to get some new Quatro CTs.  Good plan
Amp - preamp or integrated
So far I had my Vandys 2 sig for over 4 yrs. It seems im ready for a change or at least would be open to listen to others. Heard good things about the magnepans. They seem to require a good source or current which my Rogue CM did not supplied. So ...
Why the facination with integrated amps?
The biggest downside of using an int is the lack of good heat dissipation. Only if it's an integrated with inadequate heatsinking, as is the case with Hegels.
