Ahhh--Problem solved. Adding a REL sub-bass unit...
Long time lurker here but I thought I would put my two cents in and echo what the OP said. We recently added a REL S-SHO 5 to our two channel system and it just makes everything sound better. In addition to improving the low end, what I had percei...
What’s in your system today that you also had 10 years ago?
Almost everything.  Rega P2. Creek OBH-8 phono stage. Odyssey Tempest pre- and Stratos Plus amp. Ah Tjoeb CD player. Symphonic Line Legato speakers. All purchased new around 17 years ago and working great. Also pair of Rogers LS3-5A I bought in '7...
Odyssey owners chime in
I've had a Stratos amp and Tempest preamp since 2000. No problems whatsoever. Klaus was great to deal with. He brought them to our house to audition along with a pair of Symphonic Line speakers. We bought all of it and have had no regrets. Jim
How old are your speakers
My Rogers LS3/5As were purchased in 1977. Symphonic Line Legatos in 1999.
Importance of recapping a SS amp?
'Again, Odyssey can best advise you what to do.' Actually, it was Klaus at Odyssey who recommended this. I have had only good experiences dealing with him over the years but wondered what the conventional wisdom was, if any. As with many issues wi...
Importance of recapping a SS amp?
Thanks again for all of the responses. The amp has been used fairly regularly over the year so unless some sonic issues arise, I will likely sit tight for now.Jim
Importance of recapping a SS amp?
Thanks for the advice. There are certainly other things I can spend the money on. Jim
Help me improve Rega P2
For anyone interested, I purchased the Shure M97xe. For $75 it seemed a reasonable experiment and so far I'm pleased. Smoother sound than the Elektra; perhaps a bit more bass and most noticeably, surface noise is less pronounced. I wasn't expectin...
Help me improve Rega P2
Digital sources: My CD player is called Ah Tjoeb, which is a modded Marantz player I believe. Sold in the US through Upscale Audio. Also, stream Tidal via an old Macbook Pro then out through an Audioquest Dragonfly 2 to the preamp. Have downloaded...
Help me improve Rega P2
It's likely been over 10 years since my previous TT bit the dust. Certainly makes sense that multiple factors are responsible for good bass response. This is why I mentioned that when the same music is played from a digital source the bass is much...
Help me improve Rega P2
Thanks again for all of the thoughtful responses. At the risk of perpetuating a thread that seems to have taken on a life of it's own I'd like to be more specific about what's bothering me about my system. It's lack of solid bass. I don't have a t...
Help me improve Rega P2
Thanks again for all of the responses. Picking a new cartridge is not nearly as straightforward as I would have thought. Capacitance matching certainly seems to throw a new wrinkle into this. More to think about.Happy New Year to all.Jim
Help me improve Rega P2
Thanks so much for all of the replies. As usual, lots to think about.Jim
If I like Totem will I like LSA?
In response to Jafant. Current gear is all pretty old. Audionics CC-2 amp from about 1980 (SS and 70 watts per channel if I remember correctly), Odyssey Tempest pre-amp about 15+ years old, and an Ah Tjoeb CD player also about 15 years old or more...
If I like Totem will I like LSA?
Thanks so much. Just the sort of input I was looking for. Jim
