Looking for great tube integrated for Martin Logan Summit X speakers
george, it seems like you don't understand when to move on and let the man enjoy his new purchase. You need to eventually recognize that measurements are not the only factor in getting good sound....and your opinion is only one out of many.
Martin Logan electrostatic speakers, How do you know if the panels are good?
In the older ML panels, keep the volume moderately low, hold your ear close to the panel and listen to the entire panel top to bottom. In a healthy panel the sound volume should be consistent throughout the panel, especially from one grid to the n...
Connecting to a Bluesound Vault 2i
If the OP is using Bluetooth for playback from phone, etc., no WiFi should be needed. Streaming from the cloud services such as Tidal, Spotify, is a different story.
Decent DAC/Streamer
If you’re on a real tight budget, you can start of with a Chromecast Audio puck for $35 and a HiFi subscription to Tidal at $20/month. You can run the C.C. Audio through your Modi via (mini) optical connection and manage the content from your mob...
Phono preamp make crackling noise
What's your cartridge's voltage, is it MC or MM? The crackling noise is usually from the tubes especially if they're running through a very high gain stage like 52 dB. Depending on the tube type you may be able to try a lower gain/noise version, e...
Bluesound Node 2i & Ayre Codex - How would this work?
I have heard the Node2 analog output compared with the Codex as an outboard DAC in the same system and the improvement was definitely noticeable. Not a full MQA DAC as far as I remember but still sounded better playing back MQA content.
Dac hookup....
Connecting a DAC to either Ethernet or WiFi makes no sense if at all possible. I think the question (and the answers) were focused on the streamer connection not a DAC.
Sloppy, muted bass response on Hegel h190
d2girls, and the point is? And how does that contribute to the conversation?
Speaker Width?
"Is that a bong?"Sure looks like it...Legal in CA, I guess.
Preamps with separate L/R volume controls
Just trying to understand why limit the options if a balance control serves the same purpose.
Preamps with separate L/R volume controls
Just out of curiosity, how's separate volume controls different from a balance control, functionally speaking?
Tube amplifier suggestion for 101 dB speakers
I have a friend who drives his Klipsch Cornwalls using a pair of SET monoblocs with I think somewhere around 12wpc and they sound glorious and can handle loud classical orchestral music passages with ease in a relatively large room. They sound par...
New Marantz Reference: PM-10 Integrated Amplifier.
I've heard the PM-10 paired with the Golden Ear Reference speakers and to my ears the sound was too hyper detailed for my taste. It would grab your attention for the first few minutes but a bit fatiguing in my opinion. Maybe it was the pairing.
Bi wire off 4 and 8 ohm taps.
I’ve been running a biwire arrangement in my Vandersteens using the 4ohm tap for the bass and the 8ohm tap for the mid/high from my McIntosh amp. No issues. My suggestion is to experiment to see what sounds better, biwire using separate taps or th...
Phono Pre-Amp stopped working out of no where
“I think the front end got fried by his connecting the inputs to a line level source”You mean like plugging a CD player into a phone preamp? Interesting. Must take a real knucklehead to even try something like that.
