Small drivers vs big drivers
@audiokinesis Good explanation and it makes sense. The only point I would take issue with is the matter of smearing over multiple drivers. Assuming line array theory is properly considered, that's not a phenomenon that bears out in measurements. T...
Do you have any concern for the environment when keeping your equipment 24/7 ?
If leaving my class A amp on all the time contributed to global warming I'd just remove the off switch. Unfortunately I get my power from a nuclear reactor.
How important is it for you to attain a holographic image?
Huh... I just plug my stuff straight into the wall of my 45 year old condo and it presents deep, wide, towering imaging. If your gear takes that much effort to get that sound out of, I'd suggest an antique Marantz front end, a diy amp, and a pair ...
Do posters intend to hurt the feelings of other members?
Maybe people should just have a thicker skin to the responses their opinions provoke. Who cares what a nameless, faceless forum handle thinks except for the value somebody chooses to assign to it.
Disconnect or power off the circuit breaker
The awesome power of expectation bias as work here.
What are the weak points of Pass amps and pre-amps ?
Tru-Fi sounds like another long-winded, hard pitched snake oil scam. I'm laughing.
Are manufacturers having discussions removed from Audiogon if they turn negative?
Foggythink,NOW you're worried about evidence??? Why are you concerned with evidence and proof all of a sudden?
Small drivers vs big drivers
You weren't exactly specific about radiation patterns, but it sounded like you're suggesting a large driver has a superior radiation pattern to a smaller one. I'm not sure how that makes any difference unless you're trying to drive something like ...
Small drivers vs big drivers
@audiokinesis I hate to break it to you, but you're wrong about radiation patterns. At every scale where waves are radiated and observed, arrays are the preferred and dominating technique. The largest radio telescopes are arrays. The largest optic...
Small drivers vs big drivers
"I work for a company the makes speakers with giant drivers. All small woofers just suck and you're a dumbass for paying good money for them."That pretty much sums up the collective quotes and bottom lines whenever this debate comes up. Show of ha...
What are the weak points of Pass amps and pre-amps ?
The meters on Pass amps don't have much choice except to reflect what the amp is doing. They measure the bias current draw which is why they hardly do anything.
What class of amplifier has the most high definition sound ?
There's hardly a consensus about Deviolet amps. Those things evoke some real hate.
Speaker Width?
I always set up my rooms along the width. It's a much better solution for a variety of reasons. I'd get those things down to at least 10 feet apart, if not 9 or 8. It'll make for much more coherent center fill.
Super Simple theory on speaker cables
@erik_squires I don't see what the problem is with that. That's very characteristic of Focal. That's how they get their unusually small woofers to create the bass performance that they do.
Super Simple theory on speaker cables
You're trying to describe some complicated things and seemingly understand them in simple terms. I'm not at all surprised that a Focal crossover is doing weird things to get the amplifier to push more or less power. That's how they mitigate aberra...
