Luxman m-900u owners - quick question
I have two setups, each with an M900u in the chain. Only one of them is with a C900u. Both setups use a Chord Dave as a source. Running the dac directly into the M900u is a different sound than through the C900u preamp. To my ears it requires a qu...

@Corvette01, what about a Trinnov Altitude 16?

@shadorne, this is indeed a crazy journey. That's one of the things that keeps making this thread interesting..

@techno_dude, which speaker would WC keep in any room? ;-)

A ballroom is needed for the G1. The same goes for G1 Spirit. However, the Spirit is not so tall, so I guess the listener will be able to sit closer. The G2 will work well in larger rooms too - without subs. The bass is a bit faster and tighter on...

Why consider Vivid G3?? The G2 is the greater alternative to the G1 in normal rooms.

@yyzsantabarbara: the G4 will probably need some distance to the sidewall. If space is limited you shouldn’t rule out the Oval B1 Decade. Sound quality wise it matches the Giya series. The Kaya 25 is a two way, where the midrange must cover a much...

Very exciting, Whitecamaross! I hoped that you would pick the Vivid brand one day.To my ears the Giya series and Luxman pair wonderfully together. I run Giya G2 with the 900u, and it is hard to imagine a better combination in my room.I hope your r...

I have  owned the 700cx, and have fond memories about it. That said, I would shy away from models that old. Technology adavances faster than ever, and in this hobby we can’t expect that our gear stay on top of the game as many years as earlier. I ...

Ottablue, thanks for sharing your experiences with the 900u combo. The pair produces a truly amazing sound that is so full of texture in a great 3D soundstage.In an attempt to solve the hissing problem, I bought an Isotek Corvus power filter this ...

Congratulations on your new purchase :-) Don’t the Dynaudios sound very different from the Clx?

Thanks for your input, robd2. (Sorry whitecamaross, I have no intention to hijack your thread). It's the M900 that produces the hiss, because it's there even if it's disconnected completely from the preamp. Maybe the noise floor is not as low as w...

The hiss is there even when the volume is turned off. The hiss gets more audible when the volume on the C-900u is increased.I haven't tried the Bryston with the C-900u yet. The NADAC was connected directly into the 14B3.

robd2, I can't hear the hiss from the listening position. But it's audible when putting the ear close to the tweeters. It's on all sources, and it's also present if I disconnect all sources.

Wonderful thread, whitecamaross! Thanks for sharing your vast experience with us.In the reviews of the Luxman M-900u and Hegel H30 at Soundstage.com Doug Schneider compares the M-900u with the H30. While he thinks the H30 is very good, he finds ...
