Best multi channel amp and processor good for 2 channel listening.
I'm sorry you were misgendered. It's nice to have you here. Here's another vote for the AudioControl Maestro M9. The analog 2-channel mode on it is amazing. I put a ~$5k Bryston BP-17 preamp in front of it running in HT bypass and it did not sound ...
Doug Schroeder Method, Double ic
@douglas_schroeder Thanks! Sadly my Aesthetix Callisto is back at the mother ship right now, so I'm testing with the Romulus Eclipse DAC and a Quicksilver Line Stage. But it still sounds great. And for the avoidance of any doubt: Yes, I built four ...
Doug Schroeder Method, Double ic
A couple of experiences to share, all on 1.5M interconnects between my DAC and preamp:I tried a double run of AQ Fire with two AQ F-shaped splitters. One cable 1.5M and the other 1M long. I noticed a meaningful improvement over a single AQ Fire ca...
Speaker Cables and Carpet
Another option to look at would be a techflex cord cover. I use it to cover my speaker wires on hardwood floors just to organize the biwire mess and give a clean look. I don't know if that gives you enough separation from the carpet to isolate fro...
Difference in sound between day and night. Help!
You can pick up a used Elgar on eBay for anywhere from $100 - $500, and spend less than $1,000 (including r/t shipping) getting it worked over by Ralph & co. at Atma-sphere, and end up with a power conditioner that might be superior to just ab...
No IP over WireWorld Platinum Starlight Cat8
Are the link lights on? If not, are you sure you have the cable fully inserted into the jack? These cables are a little awkward to properly seat in the jack.
Do I have to use a streamer/renderer to play music from an NAS?
I should add that I keep my music on an Intel NUC running Linux/Minimserver/BubbleUPNP, and I have exactly the switch/isolator/cable setup Steve describes up there ^^^. That cost a few bucks, but it sounds real nice.
Do I have to use a streamer/renderer to play music from an NAS?
I've had Steve/Empirical's Interchange here for the last week or two. I haven't had a chance to critically A/B test it against my other streamer, but it's definitely sounding outstanding. Coming from Roon, the Lumin Kazoo software is just barely t...
Long XLR cables - DIY construction suggestions?
@gera If you like the 18' BBQ Audio Duelund ICs, why not have Bill build you 40' cables? They're going to cost a few bucks but a whole lot less than anything else, and will sound just as good. Those cables, by the way, for me rebut what millercarb...
Why does my DAC sound so much better after upgrading digital SPDIF cable?
I've got Steve's Synchro-mesh reclocker and cables and I have to say I find it annoying when people insist that he's got to be marketing the placebo effect when he's politely putting the data in front of you. And inviting you to check it for yours...
Flaws in this chain?
Try Googling "iFi SPDIF iPurifier" - the pictured optical port supports toslink via included adapter. I own a handful of these as well as a Empirical Audio's Synchro-Mesh. The iFi is cheap and convenient, and it does seem to clean up dirty sources...
KEF blades 2 or Dynaudio C4?
I just wanted to note a couple of amusing coincidences:> and a set of uni-q that were overdriven with a 1,000 watts of power. First: I recently blew my KEF Ref3 uni-q drivers by overdriving them with Bel Canto Ref 1000s, in a mishap that involv...
A better lamp cord for my stereo equipment?
Just leaving this here in case somebody wants to try it. https://www.amazon.com/kenable-Heavy-Rewireable-Kettle-Inline/dp/B015EUTMNQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics...
