Now don't laugh...my Pioneer SX-1250.  Once you replace all the old electrolytic caps (especially the harsh sounding tantalum ones) it becomes a different beast!I also still have a pair of LS3/5A clones I built 40 years ago that still sound fantas...

Phono cable advice.
Another plug for the audio sensibility impact se.  Just added one to my vpi scout/dl110 combination and the increase in detail and smoothness is stunning.  That said, I was using a wireworld Luna 7 which is not really intended as a phono cable, so...

Yes, current is key!  I ended up making my own PCs out of thhn in a quad star configuration.  My Rowland amps absolutely came to life!  So much so that my wife, who will never be accused of being an audiophile, noticed it immediately.

As much as the build quality of the original ac9 impressed me, it did not match well with my Rowland Model 1.  The sound became very dull.  That said I have not heard the more recent iterations of this product.

Fascinating!  My first decent system was a dual tt, Harman kardon 330A receiver, and audio analyst speakers.  I was about 14 at the time.  Early 70s.   The journey taken me through amps from SAE 2400L, Amber 70, Proceed Amp 3, and a pair of Rowlan...
