Wouldn't that be the Technics SP10 MKlll?
I am just interested in how anyone can ascribe superior sound to a particular drive system when it can only be considered in the context of a complete player system.
For instance Albert thinks that DD is better. Is that based on the Technics? And, if so, who is to say that it is the drive system, rather than the execution, shape and resonant signature of the enclosure, shape and resonant signature of the platter or even the shape and resonant signature of the plinth that is giving you superior sound? Or, for that matter, all of the above, acting in concert with the drive system.
Please allow me to qualify that by saying that I know Albert from the AudioMart days, and he has more audio knowledge in his little pinky than I will on the day that I die.
I think that the audiophile brain is reductive in nature and we tend to ascribe things to particular design elements that are intimately entwined with larger systems.
