Green Mountain Continium 1.5, anyone heard these?

I am putting together a vintage system. Just found on his site a pristine Sansui AU717 and TU717. Next I will add a Sota Star Saphire to a Luxman PX 100. I will be auditioning a pair of 1.5's Saturday and will try them with the Sansui but I am curious if anyone here has any experience with this manufacturer. I had never heard of them untill a local dealer had a pair for sale and spoke glowingly of these speakers. Before anyone thinks agenda, the dealer is also a good friend. I was drawn to the speaker because their looks remind me of good old Dahlquist DQ6's and DQ8's. Do they sound even remotely like the DQ's? Just seeking impressions from experienced folks.

Bombaywalla, I believe what Shakey is saying, he's passionate about his statements ... but it would have been nicer to find out on my own and not have someone post something that had nothing to do with my original post. The way I read it my current speaker system stinks compared to the 1.5's, nothing to do with my post ... make sense? They were not even on the original post. Anyway, perhaps I should not seek opinions here and look elsewhere. I did pass on the 1.5's as, again, not looking to upgrade the VS' so why buy them? great chatting, you, take care.

That is a truly ridiculous statement. And it sounds like your pride went before your common sense in this situation.

The VR2s are decent speakers and I am glad you enjoy them.

I'm sorry but I did not get that. In this thread there was a person who had lived with VR2s for a long time thinking like you do that the VR2s were it only to discover that there were speakers much better. According to me this is invaluable information & why I even bother to troll these forums on Audiogon. I cannot hear every speaker there is & if there is someone telling me that I need to look further to get even more enjoyment then I'm willing to listen & take that advice. And, I did when people here told me to get rid of my B&W DM604S2 speakers & find something much better. I was really very happy w/ them but then I took a closer look & over several months I was able to verify the short-coming they were stating & I went on to discover a better speaker system.
Anyway, nobody can force you to buy a speaker you do not want & nobody should. If you have decided to pass on the Green Mtn C1.5i then so be it. I'm sorry that you chose this route as I believe that you could have had both the VR2 & the C1.5i & enjoyed music thru both...... :-)
