Interconnect with great dynamics and bass slam ,

I recently purchased some Cardas Golden cross sepaker cables. They replaced my Dh Lab Q10s. I replaced the Q10s because i was getting some upper mid freq brightness.
I have Golden Cross interconnects from preamp to amp and from cd player to pre amp. The sound is very smooth and detailed .The bass and mid bass is not as authorative or as tight. The highs are better - more detailed and smooth.
The problem is the sound is almost too smooth the bass is kind of rounded off now .The sound is less dynamic.
My Question is.
Is there an interconnect that could give me back that great bass and dynamics of that i had with the Q10s, without the harshness i was getting. I think i would like to keep the Golden Cross speaker cables and try changing the ICs. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Wow Grey9hound, you have japanese pressings!, thats cool, and I bet exspensive! cheers!
From Waxwaves
05-22-13: Waxwaves
John, I gotta Japanese audiophile pressing of "Idlewild South" that sounds great, I love it! Digging your selections, btw! God Bless ya Ray Manzarek, may your memory and music live on!
well not all of the post got there . What i tried to say is ADAM has the Japanese pressing .. not me
Speaker Cables are sounding GREAT. I actually replaced the Coax RCA Interconnects that i was using from Pre-Amp to amp for the Bass section of my L/R speakers with some Cardas Crosslink 2 that i had . I like the sound better now . That bit of Extra fullness that i hade before is now Gone. The other coax sounded a bit slow and fat . The Cardas has hepled that a lot .
Also , the Bass section of my speakers actually receives a Full Range Signal. They are 8 inch Wool/Carbon Woofers. The same Woofer is used for the mids ,except that it has a voicecoil. These are proprietary woofers made for John Sollecito @ Source Technolgy .
I also heard that the company that makes them for him , may have let someone else use them in their speakers , without his permission of course. I beleive that company is Cinepro.
I beleive they use the same Woofers in their Cinepro Evo Mighty Speakers ..
Anyway My System is Sounding better than ever .
OH, Keith , I did switch the Tara speaker cables from the top to the bottom and put the Q!0s on the bottom.
The sound was very similar in the Bass , but the top end was a little harsher with the Q10s on top. I found the Bass to be a little less articulte and just a touch slower than with the Q10s on the bass .The Q10s are just better at bass , but not by a lot . And likewise , the Tara Air1s are better at the mids and the highs . well at least in my system . The Taras are smoother on the top end with a little less emphasis on the mids and especially the highs . Mids and Highs are more forward with the Q10s on top .
SO .I put them all back to their proper location which is where they will stay .
I may be wrong on the other company that uses his wool/carbon design, I had ask him once before , but he would not say for sure.
That is the only other compnay that i could find that uses wool/carbon.
My sytem is Sony CDP-M555-ES cd player
Marantz SR5003 as a pre-amp
Emotiva LPA-1 amp
Speakers are Source Technology 8211HD
Currently using Golden Cross ICs from cdplayer to Marantz, also Golden Cross IC from Marantz To amp.
I am actually Bi-amping the speakers
using Synergistic Research #2 on the bass(bottom) and NOW Cardas Golden Cross Speaker cables on the Top
Sourcespeaker .com
I like the sound except they are much less dynamic than The DhLabs Q10 speaker cables i was using on the top.
they bass is not as well defined and transients seem much more rolled off or smoothed out .
I wanted to see if i could find an IC between the Cd player and Marantz to replace the Golden Cross first, and see how that worked with the current Golden Cross Speaker cables - I got them used at a real good price .
I was considering Audioquest Anaconda IC or Maybe Audience AU24e. I want better dynamics and better bass slam. The bass or (midbass really) is kind of rounded sounding now .
Thanks,
Dennis
Sorry for the slow resonse. I just created my syatem for everyone to see. Thank you for all of the replies . I will try some of the IC reccomendations .
Ia m open to cost but don't want to spend thousands . I prefer to spend 500-600 on used ones. i will need a 1 meter pair
The cardas speaker cables are used . i have had them since firday and played them 20 hours or so
The Golden cross Speaker cables are used cables . Surely they don'yt need 300 ours .?
I will keep my eyes peeled for some tara labs air 1 or JPs Superconductor 3 to try first
Waxwaves, Its funny that you say that . I am in the process of acquiring some of those . The deal should be done today . I will use them between the CD Player and Pre,first . If I really like them , i will try some from pre to amp. Thanks you .
@Audiolabyrinth. I can't use XLR . Those are XLR. I need RCA.
Thanks for letting me know
Well it seems that the Golden CFross Speaker cables ,even used, require more playing time than i expected. They are sounding better now. Still a little Full sounding, but beleive it or not ,I am hearing more detail than with the Q10s . Symbols especially were setback or Recessed with the Q10s. That Frequency range is much better with the Golden cross speaker cables.
The other thing that i noticed is, that when i walk into another room ,away from the system , I can hear the Music much clearer, whereas with the Q10s the sound was not as clear in other areas of the house ,when you went out of the room. I could always hear the bass before but now vocals and other mid to high frequencies seem to travel farther with clarity .
I actually put the Q10s on the bottom of the speakers , since i am bi-amping and took the Synergistic #2 s out .
Then , since the Synergistics are banannas i have now put them on the botton With the Q10s ,since the q10s are spades ..... I am liking it . My sub is a SVS PB12 Plus/2. Great for movies but i prefer to play my music in Source Direct without a sub . My speakers are very capable, especially with those Synergistics on the bottom. I Haven't found anything better for the Bass.
I am still waiting on the deal for the Analysis Plus Solo Crystal Oval interconnects .
Yersterday, i had worked out an agreement thru eamils with the seller on a price for them BUT today i have not gotten a response from the seller at all. ?????
Maybe they are trying to back out.? If so, then i would like to go for Some Tara Labs Air 1 interconects . I need 1 meter. I want to buy used and need RCA. If anyone knows of any ,please let me know .
Thanks to ALL for your help . This Forum has the Most Knowledgeable people , and I am VERY Grateful for that
Thanks Again,
Dennis
The deal on the Solo Crystal Ovals went through last night.
I will still try the Tara Labs Air 1 or 2 if i can find used . I do not want to pay want they go for new.
Jmcgrogan2 That link doesn't send me to any taralabs . I guess they are gone ?
Oh BTW If anyone is Bi Amping. there is some Synergistic Research Signature #2 cables on Audiogon . They are the best that i have found for bass. they are specifically made for bass.
http://app.audiogon.com/listings/speaker-synergistic-research-signature-no-2-signature-6ft-and-8ft-2013-02-09-cables-77096-houston-tx
@Jmcgrogan2 I don't think the moderator took it down . It is not on Sound Offers anymore .
OOps i just checked and they were re-lsited 4 hours ago.
Whew they are pricey ! $1500 MSRP new asking $600
the listing does not specify the length
@Tls49
You might be surprised at what pricey cables can do for a sytem that is not high end ...like mine . I bought the Golden Cross IC 4 Meter pair used ($300), sent them to Cardas ,had them Authenticated and cut up into 4 pairs.
And believe it or not i got the Golden Cross Speaker Cables 8 ft pair for ($500)
I just got lucky and keep my eyes peeled
Jmcgrogan2
I just bough the Analysis Plus Solo Crystal Ovals. They are brand new in the box ,so they will take considerable break in, from what i am hearing . I will try them first before i buy the Tara. Thanks for your help . I'll hope they are still there by then . If not I'll keep my eyes peeled.
And , in the end , I may end up with the Tara . I am going to try this , and go from there . Thanks again
I would love to try them, BUT, i have to have 8 (Eight) FEET LONG ,
Minimum.
Anyone else have experience with the Tara Labs The 1
Speaker cables ?
Thanks, again
If you find any 8 ft long , let me know .
To be Honest . The Golden Cross Speaker Cables are sounding Excellent now .
They finally opened up and don't sound nearly as congested as they did . Great highs, not at all bright, more extended than the Q10s (cymbals were very recessed with the Q10s). they are also less forward sounding than the Q10s. .
The bass may not be quite as good as with the Q10s. The mids are Great and that nasty sharp bite that i had in the lower highs or upper mids with Q10s is GONE.
Really good recordings sound awesome.
I will still give the Analysis Plus a try. They should be here by Wednesday , i hope .
@TIs49
"I have experienced how cables can alter sound, better, worse, and sometimes just different, but don't understand why someone would use cables that are more expensive than the equipment. Makes better sense to spend the money on better equipment"
This weas your quote
So let me just respond and say that
"you do not have to understand ."
And the cables do not cost more than the equipment
I do not and did not think anyone here was a pusher of a certain cable.
I do believe everyone was trying to be helpful and honest , except Tls49
. I do not understand why he made the comments that he did.
I do realize that the cables are costly compared to the components, but i truly believe great cables can help a budget sytem like mine. i am hearing it with the Cardas Golden Cross speaker cables . i do believe and hv e experienced that even used cables, especially some of the Cardas take a long time of Running in to sound there best. i experienced that first hand when i initially installed the Golde Cross ICs. I really had a hard time believing that used cables needed quite a bit of run time . But i experienced it first hand and know that it is true .
the Golden Cross are sounded more and more clear everyday .
I thought initially there were muddy and kind of setback in the mids and highs... Not so much anymore.
The Analysis Plus should be here tomorrow. The seller created a shipping label , initially on the 1st , but they never got shipped.
They were Re-Sent yesterday and show that they will deliver tomorrow.
Thanks agian to all for the help.
i will post the results of the Solo Crystal Ovals... Soon
I agree with Audiolabyrinth.
here is his post in a different thread.
Sorry ,I didn't mean to call you out . I was just trying to add to my disagreement of Tls49s comments

"02-14-13: Audiolabyrinth
this is an interesting forum!I do not know what systems Hifinut604 did test on,I will say I have done the same test with complete oppisite outcome!I even went further with the test than hifinut604 did,$.50cent i/c and $1.00 a foot speaker cable. I can here a huge diference between a $4,000.00 speaker cable and the cheap one,and the same effect with the cheap i/c and a $2,800.00,It was like going from a bycycle to a ferrai!LoL! with all the years I have done test, I believe the cables should cost way more than most eanything in your system,if you know what your doing!,one of my test was a $300.00 yamaha cd-player with resonance control on top and bottom with a $4,000.00 I/C,, woh and behold this out performed a spectral amp,cd-player,and pre-amp with lesser quality cables,,A whole lot of people were laughing! then there was the silence,I thought I about made them cry when they heard the yamaha player with better cables!,very true story!"
Thank You Tls49
I appreciate that . I will keep an eye open for those and try them.
I completely understand about being cantankerous old man.
I will be 51 this April ,and i sometimes have to hold off on posting or replying quickly to someone that i do not agree with.(I have to bite my tongue).
Now in my old age I have learned to wait a while and try to be diplomatic about it , although I am not always.
Well the Solo Crystal Ovals will not deliver until tomorrow. (Weather delays ).
I harbor no hard feelings on your comments prior.
@ Audiolabyrinth
I would be willing to sell body parts or organs for a Krell FPB700cx. That amp is at the top of my list should I win the lottery, or somehow come into some money.

@ Grey9hound, What are you up to?, Kinda quite!, Since you are in knoxsville, have you been keeping up with Danielle Bradberry of the voice show?, I know she is fron Texas, she still sings great!, cheers!
I have not been doing much. No , I do not keep up with The Voice or any of those others shows like that .
When i watch TV it is The Science Channel , History or ones like those . I do NOT watch regular broadcast TV at all.
My Favorite shows are on the channles i mentioned. I especillay like "The Planets" and "Acient Aliens" is one of definatley one of my Favorites.
I am Very happy with my setup now . Those Tra Labs Air 1 speaker cables have come in to their own. Since i Replaced the bass interconnect fron the Rg6 from monoprice with the Cardas Crosslinks ,the sound is much improved . The Bass is much better difined ann not so fat and Slow sounding.
Until i did this i had forgotten that i had spoken to John Sollecito from Source Technology Speakers , and i remembered that he told me that my bass modules in my spekars actually receive a Full Range signal. So thats why they sound better now . Those Rg6 interconnects i was using are too bass fat and slow sounding . I really do not know what they would be good for. The tracsh can is the best for them i think .
Adam had come trough town last weekend and offered up hid McCormack .05 for my audition , but i had to respectfully decline as i had a lot going on and i owuld have had to take out my other LPA-1 just to tyr thte McCormack.
I actually am using 2 LPa-1s .The top one for my Rear speakers and my outdoor and Center channel speakers. I am also Bi-amping the Center. So a total of 5 Cahnnels on the top one and The bottom one i am using for the Mains (4 Channels ). I am very happy with the Tara Speaker Cables . They are slighly rolled off on top , which is why they work well for me .You know those budget Solid State amps are are little Sharp or Hard on the highs . The Tara
Air1s are perfect for that .
Thanks for all of you persuasion on those.
Hey anybody want to come jump in the POOOL .Its OPen !
New Diving Board . Still need to fix the A/C in my Car, but since i bought the Taras the A/C in my car will have to wait . LOL !! True though !
Damn. I Can't type for SHI++T.
I never took typing in high school, That was for Sissies. I am rgretting that now.LOL!
Has anyone been watching "Live From Daryl's House"? I really enjoyed the episodes with Smokey Robinson, Todd Rundgren, Nick Waterhouse, and Booker T among others! There's some interesting history involving the houses that are "Daryl's House", where the show is filmed most of the time. Still pretty cheesy, but some good tunes make it worth checking out
I caught one episode and thought it was cool. I thought i set my DVR to record them , But I must have just thought that i should ,and ended up forgetting to . I'll have to DVR some of those. i had to look up Who the hell was Darryl
LOL! I didn't know , even after watching one episode . I guess i was never a big fan of him and the other guy JOHN.
Adam,Lets try to get together and drink a Bloody Mary sometime ,
You bought another LpA-1?, I always thought you had one amp!,
I am using a total of 10 channels. 5 channels from each amp. TWO LPA-1 amps
2 channels for Center(Bi-amp) ;2 channels for Left(Bi-amp) ;2 channels for Right(Bi-amp); 2 channels for Surrounds; 2 channels for Outdoor speakers.

@ Grey9hound, when did you get the other amp?
Audiolabyrinth (Threads | Answers | This Thread
Looks like March 26, 2011.
i bought it from someone here .
@ Audiolabyrinth and whoever else wants to see it .
Have you Seen THIS
A Mximum Mojo Award!! Pretty Glowing Review
Well, just hanging out. Sounds like you had some real fun shipping your amp. WOW, what a chore. Diving board is up and we are using it. Water is nice temp. Not too cold not too hot. I hope all is well down your way .
how long will they have your amp?
@Waxwaves
@Audiolabyrinth
I am at the pool today. The water is nice and the beers are going down good . The Music sounds Awesome.!
I am off on july 4th 5th 6th and 7th. If you could swing it , it would be a good time to come and hit the pool.
Got a gas grill hooked up to the gas suplly at the house . We can Grill some food. What do you think ?
I would even buy a keg if you both come !!!!
@Audiolabyrinth
Wow, I can't believe they made you build that that crate for shipping, then they want to charge you for a new shipping box. What the Hell?
I understand about the finances . It is going to take me a while to get caught up.I have spent money for a new Power Commander for My Vulcan 2000, Viking saddlebags, new diving board, and I had a problem with my sand filter spitting sand in the pool. I Found out the pipe for the laterals was broken. I bought a new valve and new laterals and pipe and put in new sand .
Now i am broke !
Well, I am glad you got them straightened out . At least it seems so. I still would not let them charge me $300 dollars for shipping material . As much as you will have to pay for the repairs , that should be included ! They sound like a bunch of greedy bastards to me . That really makes me turn against buying a KRELL. That is the other thing that you should tell them. Tell them that you ahve posted your bad experience with Krell on Audiogon for everyone to see.
Tell them that you are going to post for everyone to avoid Krell. Tell them that you will post that you think they are a rip off, and that you will recommend that everyone avoid them at all cost .
THAT, I promise WILL get there attention. Well at least it should. If it doesn't, then there are a bunch of pompus assholes, which may be the case anyway.
GOOD LUCK.
@Audiolabyrinth. Well Congratulations on the power cord .
Are you going to try it on the Krell or on the Ayon2 ?
I would be interested to know how it sounds on the amp, well really would like to know what it does for the Ayon also.
When do you get the Krell back?
I bet you are going crazy without the amp in your system . I know i would be !
Well its been pretty hot here and not a lot of rain lately. I know you want it to rain so you can stay busy. I planted 14 Tomato plants. They are lokking really GOOD. I have big Green Tomatos , but no red ones yet. It won't be long.
two of m y favorite things about summer are ...Toamatos and Silver Queen corn. i could eat those until they run out my ears !!
keep us posted on the amp and power cord.
Take Care.
WOW ! That is a DEAL ! . I want to hear how it performs when you get the Krell back in service. I'll see about Tomatoes. Still no red ones .. except for the Small Sweet 100s ... salad type Tomato
@1graber2
I ended up with the tara labs Air1 speaker cables. I am still using the Golden Cross ICs for now. I will try something different, but it will be a little while.
Thanks for the Reccomendations. The Nordost might be a little pricey for me . I'll have to see what is available when i am ready.
@ Audiolabyrinth.
DAMMIT MAN ! I can't believe that place in FLA Screwed it up. Is that where you bought it from ?
Find out exactly what it is they F'D up .I would definately call them and let them know the problem. Then explain to them that you need to get some money back from them because of their F.n it UP. Maybe like $1000.00
This way ,even if they won't give you any money, you can tell them that you will drag their name through the mud on Audiogon and All other Forums that you can think of .This might get their attention.
Start naming off all of the Forums that you will use to do this . See what their response is then . That is What I would do .
GOOd LUCK MAN,
happy Listening (in a few months )
@Audiolabyrinth I Think You are going to need a pre-amp or receiver ,you know ....before you hook it up this time...If that is what caused the problem ???
