Lehmann Audio Black Cube Question

I just purchased a Black Cube and judging from the serial number it's one of the earlier ones. It doesn't have the dip switches on the bottom of the unit and I just wanted to make sure it was legit. I have a limited amount of time to file a dispute through PayPal if it is so I really appreciate the help. Thanks!

You have to remove the cover to get to the switches. Tiny Allen wrench is needed. A pita.
The first two versions of the BC had internal dip switches, the very first, and much sought after, version also having a steel case. The second version had different ICs and an aluminum case.
Thanks! I reached out to Lehmann via email and they responded in less than three hours! That's some serious customer service. It looks like the unit was made in 1999 so it's one of the earlier batches. I'm not sure if this puts it in the first or second type. I'm very happy so far! Talk about a jet black background. Far more detail than my Parasound..
When the black cube was released it retailed for $350.
Stereophile reviewed it and gave it a class B rating. Soon after the retail price went to $700. Just some trivia.
David, you have it completely backwards. In the original coverage of the Black Cube in Mr. Fremer’s column (no full review ever appeared) the price was $700:

Subsequently, the price went down, the 2007 Stereophile Buyer’s Guide shows it at $459. Though there is an SE version with upgraded power supply at $689. Although, by then, almost all of the parts had been changed and it was very different from the initial versions.

Accuracy has never been a hallmark of internet forms. Just some trivia.

DHM, all you need is a magnet to see if the case is steel or aluminum. Or you can just tell by weight.

I hope that the 78 in your handle means that you play 78s!
When 1st released the only place to buy 1 was from the Canadian importer. Price $350. I bought mine from there.
Keyboard courage has always been a hallmark of internet forums. Just some trivia.
