Like some blues with your funk, how about Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears. If you like funky Phish, I'd definitely recommend Trey's Horseshoe Curve.

Absolutely. I saw Naomi Shelton & ~The Gospel Queens recently - awesome stuff. Daptone Records has some fantastic artists.
