Matching octave with audio physics codex speaker

Opinion on matching Octave separates, pre amp (300 SE ?) with their 2 X 130 watt SE amp (320 ?)with audio physics codex speaker. I listened to the V80 SE and it didnt open up the music like the more powerful separates.
thank you for your help/

As an ex Octave V70se/V110 owner I have to highly recommend the super black box with those speakers. It lowers the noise floor and gives a hair more headroom.
This quote from the SoundStage Ultra review of the Codex may be germane.

"With the Audio Physic Codex, I found that the volume setting needed to be a bit higher before I could hear the frequencies at or near its specified lower limit of 28Hz. In fact, it wasn’t until I’d turned up the P-8’s volume to 35% that the Codexes began to sound properly balanced -- which surprised me, considering that this speaker’s claimed sensitivity is 89dB."

It seems you need to crank the volume a bit with these speakers but on paper 130 tube watts would seem to be a good match.
