I've got the fairly new Beck SEA CHANGE from Mobile Fidelity and can't say enough good things about it.

another vote for Somethin' Else by Cannonball Adderley. This is just a classic jazz album with an all star lineup.
Petty's Mojo is audiophile candy, though as with much of his prior output there is the feeling of empty calories.
I picked up "Monsters of Folk" a couple of weeks ago, and I have to say I like it a lot. I also bought Jack Johnson's newest, and it is better crafted to vinyl than the rest of his offerings, and I like them all quite a bit.
DEVO is back with a really fine album the "NEW TRADITIONALISTS". It is in cool clear vinyl, makes you a little confused watching it spin. Macdadtexas; I know, see just above. But if you love STP you will go crazy over gaslight anthem's "american slang", my vote for album of the year, to date!
Stone Temple Pilots

Who thought they had another one in them? Great album, love it.
My favorite album at the moment is" la guitare d,or" from manitas de plata , which is gypsie flamengo guitar music extremely dynamic guitar play and well recorded.
The Gaslight Anthem's "American Slang". The new old New Jersey sound. ***** + **. had to add the 2 extra *. This is a band to get excited about. they are the reason to be excited about rock and roll! Take that black eyed peas, give me a break. If you don't love this album give up on R&R and move on to jazz or classic. Now I will say a little bright but that's that am wall sound. A MUST BUY!
Stone Temple Pilots self titled new album is in a word GREAT! ***** stars. A definite buy. don't miss this one. I now have to seek out and buy their earlier stuff. On another note, I have never been much of a Jimi hendrex fan, but I thought, what the heck(not really. nobody says heck, do they) I will give his "new" never before released album after what, 40yrs, a try. Boy am I glad I did. First I have to say the Vinyl and cover are first rate. Sound quality fantastic. Music not what I expected, better. another definite buy. Valleys of Neptune has inspired me to buy more Hendrix. Oh well who would of thought. more to come.....
recently aquired the gaslight anthem's first album "sink or swim". A real rock and roll album. if you like early bruce, definitly buy it if you can find it. Now after giving The New Pornograhers albun "together" further spinning, it definitely grew on me. I give it **** and a real recomendation. The other previously mentioned, The Hold Steady's "Heaven is Whenever" proves this is more then a bar band, but a real pop/rock band. another **** album. I have to say one more time that rolling stone mag got it REALLY wrong. THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM is the #1 reason to be excited about new rock music and The black eyed peas are a reason to be depressed about the state of rock and roll. Like to start a petition to have them retract their statement.
Good Disco music type of 1976-1978. Very good recordings:

Love and Kisses ( Accidental Lover. )
The Three Degrees ( New Dimensions. )
Anne Marie ( WoW701. London Canada. )
Munich Machine ( A Whiter Shade of Pale. )
Giorgio Moroder ( Knights in White Satin. )
The Salsoul Orchestra ( Nice and Nasty. )
Sphynx ( Judas Iscariot. Raal pressing. )
Cerrone ( Cerrone's Paradise.Malligator pressing)
Romeo&Juliet ( Alec R. Constandinos. )
M.B.T.Soul ( Chase. Polydor Canada.)
Voyage ( Sirocco pressing. )
Hunchback of Notre Dame. ( Alec R. Constandinos. )

Regards and enjoy the music,
Raul.
"Waltz for Debby" by Bill Evans Trio. It is impossible to describe how good this album is. Evans is at his best and Scott LaFaro bass will change your perception of what's possible in playing bass in jazz. The fact that this is a live album and you can hear people moving glasses at their tables at the Village Vanguard only adds an aura of time transcendence when you listen to it.

I have two copies of the 10$ Riverside reissue and they sound absolutely amazing.
Just bought alot of new vinyl. as I work my way through them, the hold steady, the new pornagraphers, etc. I find little to get excited about, while good, nothing to write home about. on an opisite note, contary to rolling stone mag the black eyed peas's "the end" sucked. THEY ARE NOT THE FUTURE OF MUSIC! in my humble opinion. Now the one to watch and buy. THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM "THE'59SOUND". A jersey band on the rise.
Over a year old but I finally purchased "Potato Hole" by Booker T.

If you haven't heard this album, it's a must listen IMO.

YMMV
Jesse Malin's DMM album reissues "Gltter in the Gutter" in 45 speed and "The Fine art of Self Destruction" in 33 speed. First these are both first class reissues, in both gorgeous looking vinyl(smooth, deep black, flat vinyl(looks like a perfectly still pond), cover, insert and outer protective sleeve. The content(songs) on both are first class as well. I am now a fan. If you are a Ryan Adams fan, as I am, these are for you! Gutter seemed a little compressed at time but over all two great buyes. Don't hesitate, limitted and no doubt gone soon.
Sorry but Somethin' Else with Adderly, Miles & Co. is my new favorite and simply one of the greatest jazz albums of all time!! The stars lined up and this is definitely one of the LP's in the heavenly record rack if you catch my drift.

I absolutely concur. This album trounced Kind of Blue for me as the best jazz album of all times. Every tune is pure magic and it only gets better every time I listen. "Autumn Leaves" puts me in a different dimension; the end when Miles comes back with the bass after a pause is absolutely out of this world. Great call.
allan toussiant--bright mississippi. Captivating album that highlights the man's talent and the magic of vinyl. it replaced my david gilmour live in gdansk as my current new favorite
Dear friends: IMHO an all time favorite:

Montserrat Caballé ( LSC-2862. Red Seal RCA. )

no one can't die with out having the pleasure and greatness joy to hear and be " touched " by Montserrat unique magic!!!!

Regards and enjoy the music,
Raul.
and don't forget: Satchmo plays King Oliver great 50 years old re-issue: fantastic!!!!!

regards and enjoy the music,
Raul.
The Avett Brothers's "I and Love and You". excellent album with great tunes. only complaint, instead of double album 3 sided would be much better, would not have to flip so much. Another new album Joan Jett and the Black hearts's "Greatest Hits". A true female ROCK and ROLL STAR. New VINYL old rock and roll. One more to check out. Graham Park is back. All new songs. definitely worth a spin. He still has a great sense of humor on "imaginary Televission". For those who do not know who Graham Parker is, his big hits, among others, were "HeyLord, Don't Ask Me Questions","soul shoes", "Hold Back the Night", "passion is no Ordinary Word" and his biggest "Local Girls". If you don't know him check him out, you will be glad you did.

Regards and enjoy the music,

Peter Gabriel - Scratch My Back

Great music, very noisy pressing. Shame on you Classic Records!
I bought a copy of "Broken Bells", because I like The Shins, and read somewhere that it was a collaborative, and a Shin was involved. I really like this album!
Alice in Chains "jar of flies/sap". Suprising great album. definitly derseves a spin.
Dave Grusin's "Collection" - a sonic cornucopia featuring Phoebe Snow, Grover Washington Jr., Lee Ritenour, David Sanborn, etc.
Recently discovered the Jazz Workshop label, superb remasters here:
Paul Chambers, "Chambers' Music", Jazz Workshop JW-002
Wayne Shorter, "Wayning Moments", Jazz Workshop JW-010

and another spectacular reissue on Blue Note:
Cannonball Adderley, "Somethin' Else", Blue Note 1595

Enjoy!
My newest fav is my sealed Benjamin Britten "War Requiem" with:
Simon Rattle/Burlington Phil. Robert Tear, Thomas Allen

A sonic blockbuster, and amazingly a digital LP from 1983.Amazing piece and a great recording.

Wilco's Sky Blue Sky - Mastered at 1/2 speed by Stan Ricker - best, cleanest sounding rock LP I've ever heard. Wonderful songs, great acoustics, just perfect.

The lead singer is an analog junkie, which helps.
Porcupine Tree 'We Lost The Skyline' 180g. Excellent live set recorded in a shop in the US.
Sorry but Somethin' Else with Adderly, Miles & Co. is my new favorite and simply one of the greatest jazz albums of all time!! The stars lined up and this is definitely one of the LP's in the heavenly record rack if you catch my drift.
Tom Prtty & the HeartBreakers "The LIVE Anthology". Not just great music, very very good and flat vinyl and fantastic sound, BUT the nices BOX set I have ever seen. FIRST CLASS!

I am a fan - is the CD version as good - anyone know?

Tom Petty is a fanatic about sound quality.
Tom Prtty & the HeartBreakers "The LIVE Anthology". Not just great music, very very good and flat vinyl and fantastic sound, BUT the nices BOX set I have ever seen. FIRST CLASS! my understanding 2500 world wide copies in the vinyl set. puts that Beatles box set to shame. don't hesitate. certain winner and collectors item. ***** highest possable grade, hopefully others will follow their lead, though I doubt it.
Fightingwords: I second the Do Make Say Think. They just played (what is rumoured to be their last concert for a long time) here in their hometown, Toronto last week. I'm kinda kicking myself for missing it. They are definitely one of my favourite groups, they're one of the few groups who's records I can listen to over and over without fatigue.
Is this any good:

Chris Isaak - Blue Spanish Sky, Don't Make Me Dream About You, The Lonely Ones, Lovers Game
Vinyl, Classic Records 45 reissue of Jethro Tull Aqualung.
CD, Beatles Mono box set.
Recently got my pre-order of DoMakeSayThink -- Other Truths. Glass flat super heavy vinyl. As for the music -- they just get better with every record they release. The music just burns out of the grooves. Such a unique group doing what they do very well.
much to my suprise John Mayer's "BATTLE STUDIES". exsellent album with great songs and sound. the quallity of vinyl and pressing are first class, with a very nice gatefold. Another suprise to me was a release "THE MODERN LOVERS". it is a shame they could not keep it together, although their loss was the CARS and THE TALKING HEADS gain. don't usually buy releases but this one is worth it. looking for a NM of an original though.
"The Bright Mississippi": Alan Toussaint

Beautiful album in every way.

Like it more every time I play it. :-}
one more i must add to my suggestions for NEW vinyl, built to spill's "there is no enemy". at times he sounds like john lennon and at other times a completely uneek pop rock sound. i liked it so much i ordered the first three albums as well. don't miss it!
MATT & KIM's "GRAND". i found it very fun to listen to. a relaxed pop sound that is involving and yet not at the same time. not the best vinyl but a good pressing with resonably good accustics, worth the spin. another interseting album by OWL CITY called "ocean eyes". also fun pop and really enjoyable listening. one white color vinyl and one blue, but still manages to sound really good. a lot of great lyrics and up beat sounds. both are definite winners and highly recomended. just bought alot of new vinyl working my way through. some disapointments but a few gems like these.
My new Christy Moore LP "Voyage"in near mint and a promo pressing.
I have been playing this over and over. I took it to a friends and we played the last song over and over to adjust his VTA (which we finally got).
Very high gain low soundfloor, nice soundstage, amazing bass, great music and artists, sometimes haunting, sad and beautiful. Also just got another Christy Moore "self titled" that is also a winner.I got it in "sealed new" condition. Also has very quiet low sound floor and everything mentioned above.

this is addictive music

how good is that?
