PC mod/change for MC225 or related amps

Has anyone changed the power cords on "antique" amps they own, such as the McIntosh MC225?

For example, clipping the old cord closer to the chassis and replacing it/adding a Schurter (example below) IEC?

This would enable testing different PCs for the MC225 and wouldn't screwup the original chassis. The old cord could be replaced at any time with relative ease with a little solder and patience. It might make grounding the unit easier as well.

If you have done something like this, what PCs did you find worked for you in your audio setup?
