the SOTA has a suspension so if you are not on a concrete floor or atleast a super immune shelf the VPI may not be ideal as it has no suspension and the SOTA will be fine.I have wood floors on a raised foundation, and all my tables have been on a stand rather than a turntable shelf.

One table was suspended and the other two were non-suspended. None of the three tables suffered any deleterious effects from the wood floor, and the suspended table did not perform better than the non-suspended tables. All have been very good.
If one is looking for subtleties and inner detail provided by isolation (suspension), then an entry level turntable, suspended or otherwise, is not going to be good enough to realize this goal.
Not trying to pick on or discredit Chadnliz. I just don't think suspended vs. non-suspended makes any difference at the entry level.
IMO.
