Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.
I listened to Trower songs: Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....
Then I pulled out "Gamma". I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....
Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?
Had this CD for a while but never played it. A small Bristol group with a wonderful female lead singer. Described as a mixture of Country, Gospel and blues, but who cares, it's just a beautiful sounding album
I'm probably repeating myself. Only heard their hits. Never owned any of the LPs. Will do some more listening at the least. Tidal doesn't have too much of their earlier discography (which is definitely what interests me). Spotify has quite a bit although the SQ is not as good as Tidal. Guess I'll have to suffer with that ;-)
ghosthouse, Do yourself a favor! Acquire yourself a couple Heart albums. Especially within the first 5 or 6 Above average recordings! for their era. THESE GIRLS ROCK😎 The band not to shabby!
bd24, I believe it was slaw who introduced Mary G. to me. She is a very compelling artist.
uberwaltz, I agree with you on the Counting Crows, August and Everything After. I have it on CD only, but it is a fantastic recording. Solid through and through.
I'm a big B. Joel fan as well. Caught him and Elton John together on tour in Louisville some years back. I love Elton's music very much but Billy stole the show!
@nutty---I love Mary’s Mercy Now album, and her as an artist. I discovered her as a result of the album being produced by Gurf Morlix, Lucinda Williams’ guitarist, band leader, and producer up to and including her career-making Car Wheels On A Gravel Road album.
Uberw. - Do you know Joan Osborne? Check out her album "Relish" if you’ve not heard it. Could be another female singer for your list. Writing and production help from one or more of The Hooters, as I recall.
Never owned any Heart...heard plenty of ’em on the radio back in the day. Always impressed by the vocals, like Uberwaltz says. But only knew them through those FM hits and those probably don’t do justice to the depth of their song-writing skills. Mistral that Nutty just turned me on to being a case in point, I think.
Anyway, right now, Elton John’s Honky Chateau (immediately after listening to Tumbleweed Connection). Not a huge EJ fan by any means but do like a lot of his early stuff. Well written, great arrangements, excellent musicians. Sonics on this "The Classic Years" edition CD are good too. Favorites: Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters, Hercules (A cat named Hercules).
@jafant definitely happy, listening. @schubert switched to music closer to yours: Goldmark: Violin Concerto No. 1 in A Minor (Op. 28) - Sarasate: Zigeunerweisen, Itzhak Perlman. Andre Previn / Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
