Today I decided to listen to two of my favorite rock guitar heros and one great vocalist. Guitarist' Robin Trower, Ronnie Montrose and vocalist Davey Pattison.
I listened to Trower songs: Bridge of sighs, Stitch in time, The fool and me, my personal favorite- Too rolling stoned and others.....
Then I pulled out "Gamma". I listened to: Razor King, Wish I was and Skin and bone and others.....
Davey Pattison hooked has also up with Michael Shenker also. I really enjoyed my day so far. Anybody else heard anything good?
Rage Against The Machine, S/T- Remastered....The statement "no samples, keyboards or synthesizers used in the making of this record" can be found at the end of the sleeve notes. Amazing. Tom Morello is one of the greats. The recordng is a masterpiece, IMO. Even the CD cover is remarkable. "Take Back The Power" https://youtu.be/rMjjsjNBS_4
Ian Moore, "Barline 99" https://youtu.be/MmtB9Aee_V0 arcam88 and I are going to see Ian on Sept, 7th at the Southgate House- Revival Room, Newport, My.
paul mccartney, no other baby--an absolutely killer cover from the otherwise so-so run devil run. centro-matic, love you just the same--very melodic, smart pop vaguely on the order of jayhawks or richard buckner; the principal one of the great unsung songwriters in this americana-ish genre
Fleetwood Mac "Future Games" Aerosmith ""Rocks"" & "Toys in the Attic" Ozark Mountain Daredevils "Men From Earth" Guided By Voices "Do The Collapse" The Perfect Circle "Mer de Noms"
ryan adams, prisoner--not a great record, but you gotta admire his ability to crank out quality songs at such a prolific rate (this is something like his 20th record since 2000 + he has a trove of unreleased stuff, b-sides, etc.). saw him live not too long ago and he's grown up alot--he's not a snarky punk anymore, for which i give just due. bowie, blackstar--i'd sorta tuned out bowie since low, but gave this a spin out of respect for the departed and was surprised at how good it was--droney, progy, uncommerical--not that far removed from radiohead or early roxy music.
Bob Dylan/The Band: Before The Flood. A 1974 live recording of Bob and The Band's first tour together since his 1965-6 world tour, when they were named The Hawks. They had just finished recording the Planet Waves album together, and The Band were smokin' hot, Dylan full of p*ss and vinegar, absolutely spitting out the lyrics. Electrifying!
B.B. King, Deuces Wild Featuring: Van Morrison, Tracy Chapmin, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Dr. John, Marty Stewart, The Stones, Joe Cocker, David Gilmour, Willie Nelson
jafant- Thanks, I’ve had it forever. Been a while since it’s been in the spinner. Caught a live show when they were fresh and touring with Def Leopard when they had all of their "parts":>)
Joanne Shaw Taylor, "Dyin’ To Know". (Clip from "Later With Jools Holland") Joanne never uses a pick. Notice the chunk of wood missing from her six string. I like the sound of her Gibson’s better than her Fender’s. Oh, left handed drummer. https://youtu.be/3DMP2YDXVJg
