R.E.M. Accelerate - LP or CD?

The LP/CD combo is available for around $25. The CD is available for $10.

Is the LP worth double the price?

Did this project start out analog, and the CD was made from some a to d procedure, or did it start out digital, with the LP downstream from a digital original?

I only ask, because I don't see paying a premium for an analog facsimile of a digital recording. Not just the sound, but supporting the whole stinking enterprise in general. Kind of reminds me of some film I shot recently. The local camera shop told me if I get prints made, the process will be digitizing the negs, then printing them out. Be nice to do without the digital stage, although I know digital is and always has been perfect and superior, and that the universal use of digital media is evidence that the messiah's stopped by and the kingdom of heaven has been realized on earth.
Um...thanks...I think...

You make a good point about initial analog or digital recording. I suspect at the least it was mixed and mastered digitally, but I'm going to do some Googling.

Since it's a 45rpm release, each side is only about 10 minutes...I think I'm going to buy the CD out of convenience.
Tvad,

FYI, the LP comes packaged with the CD of the album, in case that is of interest to you.

The LP is very nicely pressed and sound very good to me. I was very happy with it. (And luckily for me, Rasputin had a couple of them mismarked @ $19, so I bought both of them. One to listen to and one to hold onto.)

IMHO, it is the best REM album in the past 10 years or so.
I have tickets to see them at the Greek Theater in Berkeley on June 1st., and Modest Mouse is opening for them, so I am really excited about seeing them both!
