Most important feature in desktop DAC/Amp : Mixer
Hah, I've got one better for you:Behringer Xenyx 502This was my original mixer before I got into Rane/Ashley.  But since you can get them for $20 shipped on ebay, it's almost a waste of time for me to try to sell this. lol.
Most important feature in desktop DAC/Amp : Mixer
Did you ever figure out a solution? You can buy a used Rane MLM82a on ebay for less than $100. But be careful because many of these are not including the A/C power supply adapter cable (it’s a special Rane cable with a phone like connector -- NOT ...
McCormack dna1 to Sony 1040
@tls49 - well isn't that a heck of thing!!  Gotta read the fine print!  This is the first time I have seen a Zone 2 that does not control volume.  Huh.  This receiver, if it is a Sony STR-DN1040, is pretty useless for the OP's purposes.
McCormack dna1 to Sony 1040
@edsnipered - you have not confirmed the exact model of the receiver you are using.  If you are using the Sony STR-DN1040, then there is only one way to connect it to the McCormack amp.  You have to use the Zone 2 outputs on the back of the receiv...
Mills MRA two types of different brand ?
I know I’m probably jumping in here late, but I’m doing some research on resistors for a project I’m planning next year. The "Vishay Mills" is on my short list. The older NOS "Mills" resistors are black in color. The newer "Vishay Mills" resistors a...
Best fuses for under $50?
Just as a note, I had a high current B&K amp a long time ago.  It tended to blow fuses, and it turned out to be an IEC cord that was really loose on the IEC connection end.  If the power cord plugs do not have a good tight connection, it can s...
Interconnect recommendations for BlueSound Vault 2 to my Marantz 7702MKii
Try the Wire World Eclipse 7 (NOT the Silver model).  These are very good resolution, but are not bright/harsh.  All the detail is there, but with a slightly laid back signature.  I have also heard Cardas is on the warm side.
My Long List of Amplifiers and My Personal Review of Each!
@thezaks - I have Emotiva XPR-1 monoblocks for my left/center/right/sub. Emotiva XPA-1L monoblocks for left/right surrounds. At the time I had the Theta Casablanca IV, I believe I was using Hi-Fi Tuning Gold fuses in the amps. Using B&W Diamon...
Kimber PK 10 Ascent or Triode Wire Labs Digital American For A Digital Source
From your two options, I would probably go with the Kimber with Wattgate connectors for a digital source.  The Triode Digital American model uses un-plated copper IEC/plug and these are not very high resolution.  The brass elements in the Wattgate...
Correct way to attach speaker wires... Wait, what!!!
After doing a lot of testing with different types of power cord and interconnect connectors, I do not actually believe that bare copper against bare copper would be the best solution.  It really depends on what your speaker binding posts are.  Bar...
Best fuses for under $50?
If you can’t get a 1.6A, just bump up to a 2A. I use 2A in Class A based preamps because it give it a lot more authority when the music "hits". That’s the most I would bump up, though. It’s interesting that he describes SR20 as smooth and warm. I d...
B&W D3 vs. Monitor Audio Platinum II
@james_w514 - I can't do floor standers.  I would have to limit the left/right channels to bookshelves because they need to sit on top of my subwoofers.  They are gigantic subs that I built myself.  They are about the same size as a SVS PB16-Ultra...
B&W D3 vs. Monitor Audio Platinum II
@ricred1 - are you located anywhere near Central California? lol.  Would love to listen to Monitor Audio Platinum, but we don't have any local dealer showrooms.
Best fuses for under $50?
PADIS. Wow, that’s so interesting that I had to go pull one of my own Furutech fuses. Surely enough, it does have the Padis "PFA" logo printed on the fuse in addition to the "Furutech" label. Interesting. Research indicates that Padis is a Europea...
Best fuses for under $50?
oh, expect a 200+ hour burn-in process for Furutech and anything that's rhodium.  Rhodium will go through several painful areas during the burn-in process.
