| Do I have enough power? I like them at least 2ft into the room, 4ft is better, but they are better than decent - probably great 1 ft away. They're just not their best unless well away from the wall. | |
| Adcom GFA 555 versus Rotel RMB 1095for stereo I'll add my own "qualification" to my first response. I sincerely hope your health concerns improve, and at least don't impact your ability to enjoy your rig.Frankly speaking, the first response was indeed the correct one - and good advice; lackin... | |
| Adcom GFA 555 versus Rotel RMB 1095for stereo I agree, besides, if we answered your question we would deprive you of the fun of changing/experimenting. | |
| Hum In Turntable what cartridge? Some cartridges (particularly Grado) pick up 60hz from AC motors - behave exactly as you describe. | |
| Do I have enough power? I doubt you will like the NAD (though I've never heard it) better than the Rogue with Mani's. I don't think 150W of SS power is enough to make that much difference. | |
| Pssst . . . . best New Album Perhaps of the Decade I listened to youtube clips and the samples on Amazon.com - I bought the CD but based on the samples I tend to agree with RW. I'm hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised when the CD arrives but expecting it to be just a nice alternative. | |
| Do I have enough power? I drive my Mani-2's with SS mono block amps rated at 400 w@4ohms, which is the right power for all listening. I previously owned a TAD 60 tube amp, and for fun I set it up with the Manis and had it running in triode mode - 30 watts/ch. It sounded ... | |
| shipping boxes for heavy electronics Uhaul has moving boxes that are sturdy 2 ply corrugated, and if you double box, with sturdy styrofoam sheets (you can get at home depot) you may be able to fabricate a package. I would NOT ship a 90 lb amp this way unless I could find 2 double ply... | |
| What is nearfield listening? It's when you position your speakers very, very close to you. Sort of like headphones but not, because they are in front of you. I think of it as w/i 4 ft from your seating position - but I'm not an authority.https://www.google.com/search?q=What+i... | |
| Tube amps and loads. I agree with Kijanki. Also, the load needs to be within range of the spec'd load for the amp. That is if the output tap is suppose to be 8 ohms, you should connect speakers that are close to 8 ohms (+/- 50% is probably fine depending on the amp). ... | |
| How do you amp your system? I have all Von Schweikert speakers, and all Electron Kinetics Eagle amps. Fronts are VR4 Gen III's vertically biamped using Eagle 4's, Center is a LCR15 driven from one channel (the other idles) of a Eagle 2C, and rears are CR3's driven by an Eagl... | |
| b&k st 1400 or b&k st 125.2 if you already have the amp, you can just try it too. I have and found in all cases I preferred "single stereo" (even though I always have this nagging thought that I have a channel going to waste!) | |
| b&k st 1400 or b&k st 125.2 the reason not to bridge is sonics. I don't understand the technical issues, but was told by 2 manufactures that amps designed for 2 channels are optimized for 2. When you bridge them they won't sound as good. So unless you need the power and you'... | |
| Subs: sealed vs. ported I use a Rel Storm III in one of my 2 channel systems - it's a ported design and sounds awesome. | |
| b&k st 1400 or b&k st 125.2 I have the 125.2, and have had the st1400, and st1400ii. The 125.2 is excellent for that money, and the st1400ii is essentially the same amp - both are great for HT. I wouldn't go $240 for the older ST1400 amps. the B&K amps can't be bridged, ... |
