Top "covers"
Cowboy Junkies have done covers of many artists, with results I think are better than the original. There was a gime cd included with their most recent release. It's called 'neath your covers" my favorite tracks:#1) Thunder Road (Springsteen)#4) D...
Why do they always play so loud in hifi showrooms?
interesting . . . but in my experience (which is actually limited) with my local hi end audio store, they don't usually turn it up loud enough. I invariably have to ask them for more volume.
What music do you want to play really loud?
I agree with Sean, I think all music has it's own best volume level. I differ from Tvad however on Josh Grohban - play him loud, so the walls shake.
Spanish Guitar
how about Alex Fox? I didn't see him listed above, and since I only have one cd by him I'm not sure he's purely Spanish guitar. I would describe him as more "nuveau" spanish guitar. The cd I have is "Personality". It's worth a listen. It also has ...
Anyone pay 1st price, Even if it's fair ? Poll
Here's my rule: I always offer and pay what the item is worth to me. I always know what that number is, and of course it depends on the market. Likewise I always accept the minimum the item is worth to me (ie to keep). I does seem like most folks ...
Best single-malt Scotch...
Cardhu is my favorite. I didn't see it listed here yet. It's a 12 year old Highland. Incredibly smooth. Nice bottle too.
What is the one CD you can't find?
thanks to everyone who told me where to find the "Go" cd. I purchased a copy off of ebay. It's an iumport that includes "Go too" which I haven't heard, but given th elineup I'm sure I will like it.
What is the one CD you can't find?
"Go" by Stomu Yamashta, Steve Winwood, Michael Shrieve. It was released in '76 on Island Records. I have the LP but it's been played to death. I've tried and can't find it on CD.
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
Andy Latimer of Camel. Like everyone else, I can't pick one single favorite. Of the names that would be on my top 10, Andy is the only one who I didn't see mentioned here (tho I may have missed him). Some of the others on my list would include Mar...
bridging a b&k st202 to mono
I have several B&K power amps. I tried to find reference to this parallel configuration in the manuals and can't. The manual of a Parasound HCA1000 I previously owned recommended "Single Stereo" configuration, citing that it's cleaner than bri...
Dead Can Dance's Into the Labyrinth
I can tell you a little bit about them. I have 2 cd's - "Aion", and "Within the Realm of the Dying Sun". Both very good, and interesting, though probably not among my favorite cd's. The one thing I'll say is they are unique. There are many musici...
Fedex or UPS?
I've used UPS more than FEDEX because thay're generally more convenient. The will beat packages to death though, and have ruined an amp, and set of speakers that were shipped to me. I think FEDEX is probably similar, just haven't used them enough ...
sexiest sounding female vocalists?
if we're talking sexiest sounding, I vote for Margo Timmins, and Jane Relf.
Audio room dimensions
my stereo room is ~ 20' x 12'. I've lived in several different houses, and tried many rooms, this one is the best acoustically that I've had. You'll want that extra 3 ft so your chair doesn't need to be against the wall, and you have room to pull ...
multi-amp's other than Parasound w/ gain controls?
I have a B&K AV5125 - it's a 5 channel x 125 wpc unit. I also previously had a Parasound HCA1203a (3 x 140), and still have a Parasound HCA1000a (2 x 125). I prefer the B&K to the parasound for the home theater setup I was using them in. A...
