Silverline Sonata III & McIntosh MC275?
Infinity_audioNeither Tvad nor I are in the employ of any audio makers firm, that I’m aware of, so both of us give our subjective responses on the Sonatas and other stuff pretty readily just to give back what’s been given to us.Some of the music w...
Does anyone or does everyone pay retail price?
As to the orig Q... I've paid for new stuff and for used stuff... but I don't think I've paid the list price exactly in any case.Dealers have ther overhead as Stan said... and every dealer will make or be forced to choose if they let a qualified b...

Silverline Sonata III & McIntosh MC275?
I posted a few thoughts on the Sonata IIIs here at the ‘gone not long ago. Mine were bought brand new direct from Silverline.Powerwise, I’d think your current power train would do very well with the newer version, IIIs. I’d also say your bass will...
Sound for my new theater?
Sgower Honestly, I do feel my current FIOS cable setup is better than DTV overall, sonically, and visually. I felt other cable vs. DTV was a 'pick 'em' affair.Of course, saying that, all my electronics have been changed/upgraded too. I've come a f...
Heavy Power Cords
Albert PI used zip ties too. String is just cheaper and allows a bit more creative applications, eg., slings, supports, or just simple tie offs, rather than looping/stringing the nylon ties together... and it's less abrasive on the cord and rack, ...
Heavy Power Cords
Sort of like the other mention of it... I'd add some layers of heat shrink, one at a time until the fitting was snug.Of course, that's not helping the contacts get tighter but will help the cords from pulling loose.... also, I use plain old string...
Best amp for Coincident Total EclipseII
Why not drop him an email? things change as time passes... I'd suppose he'd steer you quite well with what he see's as working best with his speakers currently.
Best amp for Coincident Total EclipseII
I think Israel voices his speakers with his own amps now... I think he used to employ Manleys... but he is a fan of 300B SET output amps.Your own preffs may well differ from his intentions but remain in a more warmish tilt, as Chad said.I'd say at...
How to run speaker wires...
I suppose you could tey whichever path you just mentioned and see for yourself.I doubt seriously with todays cabling you'll experience much if any issues... PROVIDED you obtain decent wire/cable in the first place. Good cables will have the items ...
Sound for my new theater?
Sgower ......"I don't have bells and whistles or subwoofer slam for explosions. Most HT sound is recorded so poorly it doesn't matter. "If you mean it doesn't matter to you, I do understand. If not though, Man! I really got to differ with you on th...

Looking for info on headphones
Hens Thanks very much. Very good enlightening info there. I sure need it too.
is audiogon good for the audio industry or bad?
I vote yep.I liken it to getting music via online downloads. You get a couple three tracks and either buy the CD or move on. Both are eye openers and allow for investigation without the full on need to outlay enourmous duckets right away… or of co...
