Best place to sell high end audio equipment?
Stay away from EBAY. It will really cost you to sell there. About 13%.Audiogon is OK but their new format makes it difficult for experienced buyers. I have the feeling that Audiogon has lost many of their experienced customers because of their new...
What amps should I audition?
For your speakers the Pass Labs X350.8 will do quite well. It has considerable power while staying in Class A most of the time.I suggest pairing a tube amp with it. You will be amazed.
Amps that bring liveliness to low efficiency speakers?
Absolutely the Pass Labs 350.8 or 250.8. They are very fast and very powerful.
Dynavector XX-2 MkII, riding too low?
If the Cartridge suspension has collapsed you can send the cartridge to Soundsmith and they will replace it with probably a better suspension and stylus. They are the only company in the US that specializes incartridge repair that I trust. And the...
350.8 to 30.8
That is too much of a downgrade. You would be better off with a 150.8.Actually the 350.8 is one of Pass Labs best amps. You are going to seequite a difference when you down grade to anything less than a 250.8.Talk to Mark at Reno HiFi. You can hel...
Upgrade from Pass Labs XA30.8 to X250.8. Worth it?
You should consider the X350.8. It is in a whole new league compared to the X250.8. It has all of the tonal qualities of a class A amp but withdetail and pure strength when needed. It is probably their best amp for the money.
Best 6SN7 Pre Amp tubes?
The Telam 6N8S is WAY beyond anything mentioned here, easily the equal of the Swedish tubes which are virtually non existent. The Telam is better than anything I have heard.
Subwoofer advice
I agree with Steve. Go, with SVS and set the SVS to slightly overlap with the bottom active of your main speakers. I use two SVS, one on each channel and and have experimented with their digital interface to achieveexcellent results with my full r...
My Long List of Amplifiers and My Personal Review of Each!
This is a very fragmented discussion. But my two cents worth. I own the Pass 350.8. It is an excellent amp and better, in most respects, to any amp I have heard. So I look at it as an excellent foundation for my system. Its the care in choosing the...
Recommendations for CD Player/DAC Combo
I have a ModWright OPPO 205 with the best tubes available, 1960's Philips Miniwatt D-getter, RCA rectifier with silver getter, and while this system is excellent nothing can really equal vinyl on a really good system. However if you can find a use...
What the heck is up with the audiogon listing photos?
I told them long ago when they introduced this nonsense that theyobviously do not understand their customer base. As ERIK said, young programmers who do not understand how the site is used. I actually think that the complaints about reduced sales ...
Just curious if anyone knows..
Actually VPI tends to make incremental improvements. Almost any turntable they ever made can be upgraded as they make advancements. That is why their older turntables sell for so much on Audiogon. And they all sound good. You have a great turntabl...
Listening to equipment at home before you buy
You could try a Pass Labs amp. They are excellent in my system. Contact Mark at Reno HiFi. He is very helpful and will arrange an in home demo.Reno HiFi is a direct factory dealer for Pass Labs. I have done business with them  twice and am very sa...
SOTA vs VPI (or stick with my Rega?)
Soundwatts is correct. Almost any VPI turntable is the best choice. The older tables are excellent as is the prime. Their product support is excellent and their are many options for small upgrades that improve performance. One of these is the dual ...

Audiogon's new system has not helped sales. Summer is always slowfor many products. I have sold several items without problem. But in general there are many "lookers" but not many who are interestedin buying. Maybe as the fall approached things wi...
