| What speakers work best with electronic music? 04-13-14: SchubertWith electronic music doesn't much matter.Cheapest Polk or Klipsch at Best Buy will do just fine.~~~~Good to know who's advice never to trust. | |
| Views on Siltech cables with Pass Labs Pre/Power Gee, thanks for the advertisement jdsaudio. At least you don't have to use the cables between your source and the pre-amp, that really must help cut down the cost. | |
| Need help determining next upgrade - 3rd ATTEMPT Unless they're designed that way, your speakers also look very close to the back wall. | |
| Views on Siltech cables with Pass Labs Pre/Power This thread is about what I expected... the more people who join the conversation, the more companies that get recommended. I know cables matter, I've heard that in my system, but it's so easy to end up purchasing a wire wrapped in snake oil. | |
| New Thiel Speakers - Post Jim Thiel Era I would just like to chime in that I too have had nothing but great interactions with Thiel since all the changes happened. They just did some "warranty" work on a crossover for my first generation smartsub, that I bought used and must be > 10 ... | |
| Who did hear the new Pass Labs .8 series amps? Whitecap. On the XA 30.5 vocals (and tonality in general) were much more natural, with better instrument placement and a more 3-dimensional soundstage. This was true whether I was listening to Kanye West or Sonny Rollins. The 250.5 had a bit of ha... | |
| Pass XA 30.5 with Revel F 208 ? Also, just saw this on another (active) thread about your speaker...03-12-14: BbybaudioRicred1,Thank you for your post. I was concerned that the Snappers (100WPC Tube) may not be enough, but found a review that drove the F208s with 60WPC Tube. | |
| Pass XA 30.5 with Revel F 208 ? I drive a pair of Thiel 2.4s (Impedance: 4 ohms nominal, 3 ohms minimum. Sensitivity: 87dB/2.83V/m. Recommended power: 100400W) with that amp, and even though I got a lot of shit for doing so, it sounded quite a bit better than a Pass Labs X250.5... | |
| Any opinions on the Mcintosh Mc 402/352 Not sure if it was a match issue or what, but on my Thiel 2.4s, the 402 was completely outclassed by a Pass Labs X250.5 and an XA30.5. No competition at all... and I bought the amp from someone who had loved it on the same Thiels. | |
| Rogue Apollo v. VAC Phi 300.1a I just wanted to say thanks to Musicmann1. That was an extremely useful and fair evaluation. Much better than the usual, my current gear is leaps and bounds better than anything else dribble. Great to read, as I've got some Thiels I'm considering ... | |
| Who did hear the new Pass Labs .8 series amps? Cal3713How do the XA30.5's compare to the XA60.8's?~~~~~~I wish I knew, unfortunately I haven't heard the new series. I just thought it was worth noting that the X250.5 was already bested (in my opinion) by a comparably priced amp in the XA.5 series. | |
| Who did hear the new Pass Labs .8 series amps? I own a pair of xa60.8s. LOVE them. I think they do everything better than the x250.5, which was my previous amp.~~~~~~~~~~To be honest, I pretty much thought that about the XA30.5 vs. the x250.5. The later was a little better in the bass though. | |
| Small System Rebuild. Need Integrated Amp I would recommend a Classe CAP-151 for that price-range. I had one and absolutely loved it (before moving to a Pass INT-30A). The previous owner felt the same way... just a really great piece of gear. Seems like they come up here at a decent clip.... | |
| Pass First Watt models ... confused Abrew, you should just email Pass... always informative and accurate comments from them. | |
| Speaker imaging It's quite simple really... your brain has an easier time seeing and hearing things that don't actually exist when there are fewer cues in the environment that suggest the hallucination isn't real. Reduce those cues (by removing light, taking off ... |
