Best Preamp - NO preamp... (?)
@geoffkait in the beginning, god created 2. Then the devil spiced things up by creating the ménage à trois.
DAC-Preamp having these specifications?
DAC technology is a moving target. The ESS Pro chip set in the Benchmark product is already obsolete, though I’m sure it’s great as implemented. http://www.esstech.com/index.php/en/products/sabre-digital-analog-converters/audiophile-dacs/sabre-p.....
Foil damping tape as a tonearm tube wrap?
I reviewed the E.A.R. foil product at the Michael Percy Audio site. (To be honest, I was surprised to learn he’s still using a journal-styled product catalog—hasn’t changed in like 20+ years!) Only downside is one has to cut a strip from the sheet...
DAC-Preamp having these specifications?
@shadorne yes, I reviewed JA’s measurements of the DAC3 this morning to see whether he measured the jitter. I know it’s low.
Customer Service in High-End Audio

Late-August 2018 product release and perhaps a September 2018 product release.

I’m not sure that the site has connected all the dots.
DAC-Preamp having these specifications?
The Benchmark DAC3 is another contender that appears to fit most of the specifications list. I understand that some ding it for having too many op-amps in the unit that adversely affects its sound qualities compared with units having discrete comp...
DAC-Preamp having these specifications?
The Manhattan II’s price of $6k knocks this out of contention. The $2200 Brooklyn DAC+ includes one less analog input than I would prefer, but has the desired output impedance (75 Ohms). Not sure what their mix of op-amps in the unit might be.
Dose anyone know the Spectron audio is still provide services or not?
@ronsorrells 1+ 😂😂
Does hearing the best in high end audio make your opinions more valid?
Being exposed to an alleged quality requires acceptance of someone else’s opinion of the very existence of that quality. Validation of that opinion requires acknowledgement of a reference state. So I’ve got issues with this proposition.  Short ans...
