Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
2549, two conductor with shield. The two conductors are soldered to the pin and the shield is the return.
Passive volume regulator suggestions
If you absolutely need XLR consider the Warpspeed, that is what I use for XLR. it will be adequate for your needs but in comparison I do not think it is better than the Lightspeed. Another option would be to find one of the Reference Line passive ...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Yes I use Mogami RCA's from the LSA to my RM-10.
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
I think your Audience cable would work fine as I recall it to be low capacitance. Personally I'm using a set of Mogami interconnects I bought here on Audiogon. They are extremely low capacitance.
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
The input sensitivity and input impedance of your amp are fine. The input impedance is 47k ohm which is at the lower end of what the LSA likes to see but will be just fine as I've used mine with lower. The output voltage of your Rega DAC is fine t...
Sota Sapphire Series III replacement power supply
Why not call SOTA and either get the information you need or get a replacement from them?
Enough SET Power for Rock and Roll
IMO 300B would probably be your best and safest bet given the levels you wish to attain at the distance from the speaker you listen at. The 300B will supply more headroom for the peaks. Not that a 45 or 2A3 wouldn't work, but we manufacturer both a...
Not ENOUGH GAIN
Newbee, I can't speak to others designs but in ours we are using transformers at the input to significantly increase voltage gain as the signal is fed from the source component (ex. 2V source output becomes 16V). The 10K potentiometer is placed af...
Not ENOUGH GAIN
A pre-amplifier's amplifying section comes after the volume control and is always seen by the amp at its full output (gain).Very often the case, but I can think of two manufacturers that implement the volume control after the gain section of the p...
Not ENOUGH GAIN
Agree with Jeffreybehr. I much prefer the volume control past the 12 o'clock position and closer to 2 or 3 o'clock for normal listening. I assume 7 is at the top end of the range. What happens when you move the volume control higher, say all the w...
VAC Owners:Outboard Phono Stage?
I was not doing my own thing at Newport last year, but assisting Concert Fidelity. This year I will be exhibiting with Fritz Speakers and WyWires. As I indicated we plan on using the Zesto again. We'll be using a Concert Fidelity refurbished Denon...
VAC Owners:Outboard Phono Stage?
We used the Zesto phonostage in our room at THE SHOW Las Vegas this year and will most likely have it in Newport. I think if you are looking for an external phonostage and the price is in your budget, this one has to be on your audition list. It i...
Canadian Cable Manufacturer
I believe it is based on the Bob Crump DIY Audio Asylum power cord design. Take 5 Audio just assembles it for you. I guess they cryo it too and maybe use different plugs on the ends (don't remember). In any case for $70 it should work just fine.
Help with my analog rig.
Typically if the noise increases with volume a component is the problem. However, there are easy but time consuming ways to diagnose the problem. It would help if you had a set of shorting plugs handy for the diagnostics. Maybe even a set of Jense...
Lightspeed Attenuator - Best Preamp Ever?
Hasn't made the website yet, but working on it. We need to officially dress one up and get pictures of it. Similar concept to the Decware CSP as the output voltage is adjustable, but we've added another feature that allows you to set up the output...
