| "Krell" is a buzzword i've always enjoyed the alpha style, with some exceptions, but have steered away from purchasing one (or 2 or 3) 'cuz i could never afford the retainer demanded by the always-there backseat mechanic. ;>) | |
| Shelf Material - Neuance redkiwi: you've obviously done a lot of work that is of great value to all of us here. many thanks for sharing your experiences. might just go out and try to find some of that neuance. | |
| Wrong direction? one thing, among many, about stereophile ratings that really bugs me is: they refer only to the products they choose to review. (i know, in many instances these "choices" are really based on what manufactures beg them to review; in other instances... | |
| Do Dealers think it is sinful.......... Gmkowal@ix.netcom.com: it is NOT illegal to cut off a retailer for selling below a manufacturer-set price. it IS illegal to threaten a cut off and not follow through; i.e., if a manufacturer has a "no-discount" policy that it enforces uniformly an... | |
| Do Dealers think it is sinful.......... in my experience, you can get discounts from virtually every dealer, depending on what you are buying. indeed, i won't buy without at least a 10% discount and usually can obtain at least 25% off. you just need to work at it. | |
| Mapleshade versus Stealth karl: you sure do have thin skin for someone who sends me private email saying, "...you are definitely an angry drunk." and that was after you'd told me to "kiss [your] ass." what i've said is, i believe, borne out by numerous postings you've made... | |
| Shopping CD players: my big adventure kitch29: if you really hold such strong views about ms. baez, why do you buy anything she's ever recorded? i lived thru the era, too and lost many a friend and neighbor (i didn't get drafted 'cuz i was the sole surviving son of a ww2 casualty). i ... | |
| Levinson 30.6 or dCS Elgar & Purcell dac_envy (bad fake screen name, BTW): what's a "finatic"? i'd guess it is someone really into heat sinks. | |
| Levinson 30.6 or dCS Elgar & Purcell 90493m: why would you combine the accuphase 101 with a 330? the 330 includes a processor very similar to the 101. perhaps you've confused the 101 with the 100; the latter is a cd/sacd transport. BTW, the 100/101 or 100/330 will quite significantly... | |
| Genesis APM-1 or Thiel CS-7 speakers neither speaker will exhibit its full potential with the mit's in your system. IMO, you're gonna need more neutral wires. | |
| Balanced or SE inputs? there have been a number of threads on this topic, at least one of which began within the past couple of weeks. try searching for them. | |
| Shopping CD players: my big adventure right on ben! i was about to comment upon the very same gratuitous, inane comment. all the rest mr. kitch has to say is colored for me by that remark. what's more, anyone who is willing to buy a cd player sound unheard will get exactly what he des... | |
| Sarah Brightman Concert this is an audio site. go away! | |
| Acoustic Energy AE1 Signature the ae1 signatures are very high quality monitors that require stands and placement away from walls for maximum performance. they are not intended to be used as bookshelf speakers and, IMO, it would be a sacriledge to do so. | |
| Jazz- Modern big band kid creole and the coconuts did some real interesting stuff a few years back. on the more recent side, i like squirrel nut zippers and the brian setzer orchestra. not quite classic big band jazz but enjoyable nonetheless. |
