| DC motors and outboard power supplies... Along the lines of what Palasr suggests, can you swap another DC source for the battery? I am able to do this with my controller by using a 12-vdc wall wart. The wall wart isn't as quiet but it is great for emergencies and troubleshooting. It does... | |
| DC motors and outboard power supplies... No_regrets, how do you get the controller to work properly again after one of these slow down episodes? | |
| MintLP/Dynavector 17D3 question Try Office Depot or Staples. They usually have up to 10x magnifiers. You may even find something at Lowes or Home Depot but I've never looked there for magnifiers. | |
| Raos cartridge No. But I'm pretty sure you just joined up so you could tell us about it. ;-) | |
| Linn LP-12 still competitive with the very best? No. Not in my opinion. That's not to say that a Linn can't sound pretty good. | |
| Warmed cleaning fluids That sounds like an excellent example of why many of us keep several types of cleaners around. At least you know you can remove it because you have already. Now it is just a matter of finding the right cleaner.I used to think about warming up the ... | |
| Are you using anti-skating or not Hi Pops, I was only making the point that not only do I not currently use any AS, I also have found that I can reduce VTF. This is in contrast to some earlier comments about needing to increase VTF with less AS. My point is, this ain't necessarily... | |
| Turntable Speed A DC motor, though, should be able to run at the exact speed required every time it's turned on-so with the correct pulley and platter size, and belt thickness, 33 1/3 rpm should be easily maintained, minus the effects of wear, dirt, belt slippage... | |
| Are you using anti-skating or not I not using AS (I have also removed the mechanism), I'm also finding that I can run much less VTF. So far, almost a gram less. I say so far because I haven't yet found the low point where mis-tracking occurs. | |
| Furutech Destat or Walker Talisman or both? Glad you found a solution, Peter. I'm glad I could share what I've learned about demag. Remember that you still need to use anti-static, like a Zerostat or DeStat. | |
| Furutech Destat or Walker Talisman or both? It is worth a try, Tom. WARNING, keep it far away from your cartridge! The idea is to hold the magnet close to the lp without touching them. Move the eraser or the lp around to be sure the field gets everywhere. Then slowly remove the lp from the m... | |
| Furutech Destat or Walker Talisman or both? Something like a bulk tape eraser will do a much better job, will not need repeated treatments, and cost a whole lot less than either of these two products. | |
| Koetsu vs Dynavector As others have pointed out, perhaps the better move for the OP is to upgrade other components before looking to add a cartridge that is beyond these other pieces. I agree with Raul, Dan is certainly welcome here. However, if flame wars are what on... | |
| The best phono stage out there? How much do you want to spend? The "best" doesn't really exist.I love my Doshi Audio Alaap with my XV-1s. The last phono stage/preamp I'll every own. Well, unless all the tubes in the world suddenly disappear. ;-) | |
| LP jackett maintance and fix? What smells like cigarettes is the residue on the jackets. Spraying more stuff on them doesn't work for me. Wiping them with baby wipes to clean the crud off does work most of the time for me. |
