Frequency Response Measurement Question
Good comments - It is possible that things moved inches. I also have noticed the effect of my body position on the high frequencies. I will go back and try some different positions to see if the 2k problem is placement.I spent all day today workin...
Do I need a power cable - if so what brand?
I recently changed amplifiers and have been a bit dissapointed with the results of the upgrade. Rather than run out and buy a bunch of expensive cables, I am pursuing tweaks such as Room acoustics and power. I admit to being very skeptical about s...
Most overlooked part of your system?
Tvad - great response, I find a margarita really opens up my system, much more transparent, on a serious note - I think all audiophiles should read Oliver Sach's recent book "Musicophilia". It is a great study in how much our experience of music i...

The Ayre seemed like the ideal amp but it has no pre-outs at all. That is a big problem as I run a sub with my GMA's.

Experience wit MMGs and Monarchy SM70
I heard a pair of Maggies with SM70's while auditioning the Monarchy DAC24 with Mr. Poon in San Francisco. The SM70's were driven by the tube pre-amp of the DAC24. Unfortunately I don't know which model the maggies were (I suspect an older version...

Subwoofer Frequency Response question
Thanks for all the suggestions. I am using the Rives CD with 1/3 octave tones calibrated for the RS Meter. I am going to check out the realtraps site. Using this, I was also able to find a wire vibrating inside the speaker at mid-range frequencies...
Speaker Stands adapters for Heavy Speakers?
This is an interesting topic - Roy, the designer of Green Mountain recommends Blu-tak to decrease resonance from the stands. Green Mountain's cabinets are made from Q-stone and have low resonance.I also found this article http://www.stereophile.co...
Speaker Stands adapters for Heavy Speakers?
Thanks for feedback. I am planning on using blu-tak. It sounds as though it holds well enough to secure the speakers. Thanks for the suggestion about the lead, I think I will try that as well.Drew.
