Questions about a new Ruby 2 cartridge
Interesting, Zaikesman. The Benz Lukaschek phono pre is fixed at 22K, which is probably where some of this came from. But if you're right...I just bought this pre used for my L2 cartridge. Don't have it yet. Hope it works out.
Tubes Do It -- Transistors Don't.
I own both solid state and tube pre-amps and amps (Placette and First Sound, Pass and CJ). As with many things in life, I can’t decide which I prefer, so I switch off—a month or two with one, then the other. When I make a switch, I’m usually glad ...
Poor Man's 2 channel HT--advice sought
Thanks for your responses everybody. I may not have positioned the thread quite as I intended. My mistake. Low cost is not the headline objective here. Simplicity is. I don't want HT, I just want better sound from my TV and its associated input so...
Review: Dunlavy Audio Labs SC-IVa
So it is, thanks. Still a lot bigger than my ProAc 2.5's though.
Review: Dunlavy Audio Labs SC-IVa
Great review, JD. Thank you.Am I correct that the Cantata has been discontinued? It is nowhere to be found on the Dunlavy website. I'm afraid the IV is just too big physically for me.
Anyone tried Kharma cable, suppose to be the best ?
You guys are funny!
Review: Placette Audio DB Preamplifier
Great reivew, JD. I own the same unit and agree that it is extraordinary. Every serious audiophile should try one, if only to set a reference for what a pre-amp sounds like when it sounds like nothing at all, or as close as we can get to that goal...
Anyone know anything about the new Dodson 218 DAC?
It's now on the Dodson website. Price is $8K, cosmetics identical to the 217 except silver faceplate. The 217 is apparently discontinued (as an owner, this saddens me), but will have a future software upgrade.
Audiodharma Cable Cooker anyone share experiences?
What do these puppies cost?
SACD finally taking-off? non-classical listeners
You may want to also look at the new Ayre player in that price range. Good choices abound.
Sony SCDXA777ES vs Sony SCD1 ?
I can't find it on the Sony web site.
Sony SCDXA777ES vs Sony SCD1 ?
Is the SCD-XA777ES the same as the SCD 777ES, which is discontinued?
Do HDCDs sound terrible on non HDCD players?
HDCD does tend toward a particular sound, which some people might not like. I believe Art Dudley of Listener magazine once described the format as sounding "phasey." In any case, that quality would not (should not) be apparent on a non-HDCD player...
Nitty Gritty or VPI, Which record cleaner ? ? ? ?
I own a Nitty Gritty and recommend you go with the VPI.
i finally hit the "G" spot on my T/T
And as for turntables...well, I believe that hitting the G spot is more commonly a digital endeavor.
