Is Apogee in a class by itself among planars?
Kr4...I guess the narrow ribbon dimension is a necessary condition to use a magnetic field across its surface.
Bel Canto eOne amps - Is this the future?
Muralman1...Don't you see that being less than truthful about where the amp is made hurts your credibility about other aspects of the amp. We don't care!!! You raised the subject. The case is very pretty. But if it costs $400 that would be more th...
Behringer DEQ2496 - worth using in hi-end system?
Streetdaddy...If your integrated amp has a TAPE loop (TAPE OUT and TAPE IN rca connectors) it would be obvious. If it has PRE OUT and AMP IN connectors (probably connected by jumpers) you could put it there. If all else fails you can put it betwee...
Best Subwoofer for Magnepan speakers
I have custom designed subwoofer systems that I designed and built embedded in the wall behind my Maggies. I am well satisfied with results. While this design may be impractical for most people, (eg: apartment dwellers) some of the concepts I used...
Bel Canto eOne amps - Is this the future?
But they are made (mostly) in Europe? Go on, admit it. We don't care.
Is surge protection needed?
Unplug is the only thing that really works, and make sure you are disconnected from any ground wire attached to your system. I used to think that having a switch off would block a lightning spike, but I have learned that it jumps right over any op...

And for comparison go to www.hypex.nl.As the saying goes "There is more than one way to skin a cat" (IMHO all of them good).
Is Apogee in a class by itself among planars?
Kr4...I have always found it easy to distinguish a ribbon from planar. A ribbon is very long and narrow...like 3/4 inch wide and 50 inches long. A planar speaker, like a Magnepanar will be more like 12 inches wide and 50 inches long. I would not t...
Bel Canto eOne amps - Is this the future?
Muralman1....All the complexity, design originality, and parts count are in the ICE module. The H2O power supply is a simple brute force design. This may be a great approach, but it represents a small part of the overall amplifier.By the way, I ha...
New to EQ
Warnerwh...If you can get the Behringer into the signal path before D/A that is, at least in theory, the best way to go. However, if you play a SACD or DVDA there is no digital output from the player, and you need to use the analog inputs and outp...
New to EQ
The Behringer DEQ2496 at a cost of about $350, including the mic and its cable, will dramaticly improve most systems. (Actually it is the room that is improved, not the system). Don't take my word, or anyone elses word for whether the DEQ2496 is g...
DVD-A: Thoughts of a late adopter
I am a big fan of multichannel, both DVDA and SACD. I do not use the stereo tracks of my discs, but it stands to reason that these would be better than a CD (except that how the particular disc was recorded can make or break either format). Howeve...
Bel Canto eOne amps - Is this the future?
Muralman1...Really? I thought the ICE module was made in Europe.
Bel Canto eOne amps - Is this the future?
Muralman1...Where in America is the ICE amp built?
Behringer DEQ2496 HELP
I have not used the I/O selection capability, but from what I read in the manual (page 13) you could select either the digital or analog input, so you could accomodate one additional source. Try it.
