| 2017 California Audio Show in Oakland, CA - Partial Review Re: Napa/Visual ArtsI thought that they were decent. I mean, not the best speakers I’ve ever heard, but for the application, and tonal balance, really quite good. I wouldn’t run screaming from a room playing music on them. Also didn’t get any imag... | |
| Class D is just Dandy! Hi Doctor_lipp!Yeah, I use it on my subwoofer along with bass traps and other room panels. It is essential for the last two octaves. That’s not what’s being done here. DSP is used entirely for electrical phase and amplitude. The actual speaker/roo... | |
| Room treatments @gdhal is right. It's not that Sonex doesn't do ANYTHING. It's just relatively ineffective compared to the average panel from GIK. I also have to say, having had a chance to hear rooms heavily treated with ASC products, GIK makes a superior produc... | |
| cost of speakers in relation to the rest of the system My experience is thus:There is poor correlation between cost and performance. If you completely ignore the prices, you may find much less expensive speakers you like more. The audiophile who develops his ears with no regards to price will be happi... | |
| 2017 California Audio Show in Oakland, CA - Partial Review The big room is the one I heard. I have to say I don't care at all about MIT cables. I spend too much on crossover components to have a cable maker put in some cheap parts in a box and charge me for it. Best,E | |
| Preamp w/ a budget of $2000 JMC beat me to it. ARC older than 10 years should be great for you. :) I prefer new ARC myself. | |
| 2017 California Audio Show in Oakland, CA - Partial Review Hi Michel!Interesting. I didn't even bother to try to get between the speakers at the VS room. I thought it was them, but I heard kind of the same thing repeated. I think the ASC tube traps were sucking the mid range out of the most treated rooms.... | |
| Preamp w/ a budget of $2000 Parasound P7. Highly rated even if you don't do multichannel. Used, around $1k or less. | |
| 3.1 channel audiophile setup for music and movies Parasound P7Can also do it with most preamps / integrateds that have a Home Theater bypass and 12V trigger output. :) Best,E | |
| REFERENCE 3A De Capo BE Second time I have seen this posted. Sorry, but it most certainly DOES use a crossover. Just not on the woofer. http://www.soundstagehifi.com/index.php/equipment-reviews/703-reference-3a-mm-de-capo-be-loudspeaker...This is similar to the venerable... | |
| Is Classe AUdio no longer??? Not all labor in China is slave or under-paid. The quality of products delivered from China have to do with the quality and care of the labor as well as manufacturer's negotiating fairly, and putting in their own QA people there. | |
| Crossover confusion Not sure if you need DATS though. :) It is for impedance and Thiele-Small parameter measurements. I have one, but I make my own loudspeakers. Otherwise only useful if you are hacking internal crossovers and want to measure parts precisely. Best,E | |
| What does a bad tweeter sound like? I just found the 5A crossover. :) I would leave it alone unless you are already pretty well versed. The 5A uses batter biased caps int he mid and tweeter sections. Pretty funky if you ask me. :) | |
| Most Beautiful Receiver / Integrated - Ever was... ? @bobheinatz Totally with you there. :) I am giving up being fuzzy and mixing and matching for the sake of minimum cables/clutter and maximum system simplicity. Hard to do with a mixed music/movie system, but I'm trying. E | |
| Ayre Codex DAC 5 meters is considered the limit for a USB cable without an active repeater. 3 meters is fine. Best,E |
