Artists' lps that don't get the respect deserved
The discussion of Rod Stewart brought to mind, "Gasoline Alley".  For me that is an excellent "solo" recording from Rod (though he's got a great group of musicians working with him on it).  I'd put that out there as an example of an LP that doesn'...
New format, dislike.....
LR57, I miss that.  I'm not big on change to begin with but am trying to assume merit here; yet, this still leaves me struggling a bit to understand how things are organized.  In the previous format, multiple recent contributions to a given old th...
Bass driven floorstanders?
Chris - I'm not sure what they sell for used OR how they'll compare to some of the other speakers suggested to you -  but for me, bass from the Totem Forest speakers has been a real surprise.  Early on with them, I'd considered getting a sub.  Tha...
Overshadowed by bandmates
Yeesh...make that Tony Banks.
What's in your CDP tonight? the minority report
Tried the Iris Dement, bdp...just not my cuppa, I guess.  But, knowing me, might go back in a month and think she is great.  Right now, I do respect her songwriting skills but her voice bothers me.  Personal preference, not intended as any blanket...
Best Cables for around $500
Hmmm....Electro - don't think I can do an A/B with the Stagers vs the Columbias.  The Columbias are XLR as are the inputs to the Taranis amp.  My pre is not balanced so I'm using a male/male XLR/RCA adapter on the Columbia coming out of the pre am...
Best Cables for around $500
Hi Electro - I've actually got a pair of the Stagers.  They aren't in use right now.  Not to say there was anything wrong with them.  I think I replaced them with Morrow Audio MA-4 ICs.
Best Cables for around $500
Gshep - glad someone else agrees.  It's kind of surprising more was not written about these back when they were first introduced - at least, I could not find much by way of reviews.  "Balanced" is a good word for them.  Also, the clarity and detai...
Best Cables for around $500
Resurrecting this old thread rather than start a new one.  Using it as a vehicle for a few remarks about Audioquest's Columbia XLR interconnects with 72V dbs system.  I'd been very skeptical about the value of AQ cabling...suspected it was a lot o...
Speaker Cable connection: Jumpers
Runnin - See the discussion on the topic, "Speaker jumpers and hook up choices Question". It was started by Geph0007 on 9/16/15. Hopefully they link below will take you to it. Also, worth reading is the Audioquest discussion about "bi-wiring".http...
Audio grade USB cables
Mesch - On the Doukmall cable there are 2 legs and a total of three USB terminals. The signal and power legs are joined at a shared B terminal that is yellow. The A terminal of the signal leg is also yellow. The A terminal of the power leg is blac...
Rock with strings
Neil Young's first solo LP had some great string arrangements, courtesy of Jack Nitzsche. Not 60s/70s, but string arrangements by Beck's father on Sea Change and Morning Phase add a lot to those recordings.
Review: Merrill Audio Taranis Amplifier
"Wondering if you experienced any issues with the unbalanced pre-amp feeding the Taranis with RCA-XLR adapters?"Mojo - if directed to me, all I can say is I'm not aware of any issues using an RCA to XLR adapter at the preamp. Not ideal I suppose, ...

To those concerned about fine scratches on CDs using microfibre cloths (and I'm NOT singling out EOM), info at this guitar forum site might be of interest. It appears that not all microfibre is created equal. http://prsguitars.com/forum/archive/in...

Thanks for the info on the cloths, Geoff.
