whats the very best sounding cables for realistic money
I recommend starting with Cat5 ethernet cable. It works very well for both interconnects and speaker cable and costs 10-20 cents a foot. Of course there are many who think you have to spend a small fortune on wire to get good sound but they are in...

Amps from the 1980's -- What gear holds up sonically? Reliably?
I too am amazed a Phase Linear is still working, known as Flame Linears even when new. I had a 700B and it blew up on a regular basis. What I haven't seen mentioned is that all of these amps had large electrolytic caps in their power supplies and ...
Ideal Screen Size for Theater? 2.35:1 or 16:9?
I saw someone mention paint. I got  Kodak gray card and had the local paint store match it in a flat finish then painted the ceiling. It cuts  down on reflected light and doesn't look too bad either. It would be good to paint the walls too but tha...
Ideal Screen Size for Theater? 2.35:1 or 16:9?
Since the standard is to define screens diagonally that's how I stated mine. My projector is calibrated and the output is reduced, but it is still plenty bright. The reviews mention that this projector has higher than average output when calibrate...
Ideal Screen Size for Theater? 2.35:1 or 16:9?
I have a 120" screen and a projector with much less output than Aux recommends. A Sony HW40ES with 1700 lumens and screen gain of one.  I use it set to output much less than that and it is more than bright enough. At full brightness it is way too ...
Why such low power with DIY tubeamp kits?
Your amp is class AB, push-pull, with each output tube only working half the time. They are biased so the tubes are just barely conducting with no signal. Most of the kits I've  seen are class A single ended triode  which means the tube is on abou...

some people just feel like victims I guess......and some people just add snarky comments to threads that add nothing worthwhile I guessThanks to those who offered constructive advice. I downloaded Jriver, will report back
suggestions for Windows 10 software please, , laptop to USB DAC, AIFF files, remote app
so Jriver charges you $50 for the program, no problem, but then sticks you for another $10 for the remote appoverall I don't have an issue with $60 for all, just seems kind of underhanded
A Big DIY Bang for Your Buck?
on topic, no angertoo Todd's point, I use DIY cat5 cables for both speaker and interconnects.IMHO opinion there are so many other variables that the wires you use are the final piece to the puzzle. Since things like speaker placement and electroni...
A Big DIY Bang for Your Buck?

A Big DIY Bang for Your Buck?
That probably explains your proclivity for wagging your tongue. It must be genetic.she is my grandfather's second wife, not my Mother's mother, so not genetic
A Big DIY Bang for Your Buck?

A Big DIY Bang for Your Buck?
Sabai, you are right. The posts are purely for entertainment value since they can't possibly be based on anything factual  All you need is plain old tap water. Everyone should be familiar with the relationship of heat and sound, that sound travels...
