counterfeit CDR copys of Original Jazz Classics
I have received a few of these CD-R products from Amazon.  They have some 3rd party, on-demand "fulfillment" services. The jewel case is cheaply sealed, the liner is a cheap photocopy.  It is best to scroll down to product description to ensure yo...
Cable manufacturers?
Can someone summarize who sells the UP-OCC and PCOCC copper wire made by Furukawa, etc for DIY cable building? I have bought Furutech's Alpha OCC AC cable, only to deconstruct it into its three conductors for easier use at screw terminals.  How is...
DCS Vivaldi stacks vs Esoteric Grandioso G1, D1, P1 stacks
Caphill, thanks for this inquiry--it's fun to read a discussion about this level of gear because few have addressed every system detail as you have.  If you had said you were not satisfied, the Zen response, "If you are not happy with what you hav...
WHAT HAS WORKED FOR YOU? ISOLATION PLATFORMS, FOOTERS, ETC. for a DAC?
I have found that every part of a system should be isolated from the floor, including transformers, speakers---everything--moving parts or not.  Maybe not the heaviest of speakers, but Maggies for sure--too delicate to not be affected by vibration...
Jerry Garcia, A Legacy?
A legacy as American as Harley-Davidson, Levi's, American lager and the 4th of July.  Grill a brat, have a beer and play some GD.
Power Supplies & Performance
Parabolic, try the Panamax with only your Krell and dac, while placing your Bryston and sub into wall outlets--system should sound better.
Jerry Garcia, A Legacy?
The Grateful Dead are beyond petty criticisms.  They have preserved early American folk music, have played to generations as part of the American mythos, whose music resides deep in the identity of our freedom to wander the land and come together ...
Jerry Garcia, A Legacy?
Listening to "God Only Knows", it's a song with touching lyrics--pleasant, dreamy--a bit pressured during the end, but likable for its changes in tempo, complex phrasing and background arrangement--an ambitious song for that period--can see why Mc...
CD players = dead?
That loudness war compilation of good and bad dynamic range does not square with many of the CDs I feel sound very good in my system.  Don't let it throw you off something you want--have to listen to it.
Jerry Garcia, A Legacy?
Those who like to knock the musicianship of Jerry and company forget their body of work consists primarily of live shows, and there were mistakes and miscues. Listen to any of their studio work and it’s polished--as any group’s songs would be rehe...
Does a flat ceiling provide the best sound?
Great advice--interesting to hear that speakers are designed for ceiling heights of around eight feet--will have to keep that in mind.
What are some of the downsides of owning a Magneplanar .7 or 1.7i ?
The stock feet supplied by Magnepan should be replaced with the Mye Stand or similar, and the stock fuses should be replaced for an easy upgrade--Synergistic Blacks are the best by far, and the bass crossovers on the older 3.X series should come o...
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
Thanks for the good report, Frank.  You're going to feel twenty years younger.
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
I am wondering about Frank. I wrote to him, have not heard back.
Synergistic Red Fuse ...
Listener testimony here continues to confirm the sonic benefits of installing SR Blacks in AC mains, rails and, in my case, Maggie 3.6R tweeter and midrange signal paths.  The conducting materials in the SR's are superior to the tiny filaments in ...
