Tightening binding posts problem
Some posts are just not going to get tight without stripping themselves. I had this problem and converted my posts to WBT's. Now no problems. A couple hundred dollars later of course (darn BiWire!)-Karl
Earplugs for conerts?
What?
Sigur Ros KID-A's Daddy ?
They are currently touring the U.S.A. Nice live show.I don't really hear the Kid A in their Agaetis Byrjun. To me they have a very retro 80's sound. Like a sedated Sugarcubes meets the Jesus and Mary Chain. Well descriptions are pretty worthless. ...
DIY Speakers, worth the hassles?
Agree with all the above posts. I am currently in love with my North Creek Rhythm Signatures. I had the cabinets built by their resident master - Lee Taylor. The quality of the the kit components, especially the crossovers, are way high end. To my...
Review: Theta Digital Miles CD Player
Do you have the balanced version? I'm a big fan. -Karl
Tubelike solid state: Ayre Vs Aleph
I would listen to a BAT VK-500. It added the appropriate low end energy without sacrificing the beautiful mids and highs in my system. Like the Ayre, it is a two gain stage, zero negative feedback power amp. Quite a bit cheaper than the Pass gear ...
CDR Fidelity?
Thanks all. Sounds like my PC is the culprit. I am not surprised.
good CD player with variable output?
I love the Theta Digital Miles. Especially the balanced version. Should be available for around $1200 used. Beware though, they are discontinued. Also, they use the discontinued Pioneer stable platter mechanism. All this aside they sound fantastic.
What is your "evaluation cd"?
The Sea and Cake "Fawn"Marc Ribot "Los Cubanos Postivos"Recently, Wilco "Yankee Hotel Foxtrot"All have electric and acoustic instruments, good soundstaging and great engineering. -Karl
Silver Speaker Wire Recommendations?
Zu cable Wax is worth a try. Not sure if it's silver actually but it does have "proprietary conductor metallurgy ." He he he. They do sound excellent.http://www.zucable.com/cables/wax.html-Karl
Zu Cable-vs-Virtual Dynamics?
First of all, I don't know Virtual Dynamics. Second, I have about 400 hours on a pair of BiWire Wax cables that are connecting my BAT VK-500 to the external crossover of my North Creek Rhythm Signatures. I got the Wax at the same time as the North...
Musical Healing
I heard from Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo) that new age music cures hemorrhoids if played very close to the involved region. My blood pressure and heart rate decrease with a good dose of Air (french band).-Karl Desch M.D.
Tube Pre amp or Solid Pre Amp
Forget the pre. Keep your Miles going direct, I do. (If you get the appropriate listening levels.) If not, go for a BAT tube pre.-Karl
Zu Cables, Z cables and Jena Labs-your thoughts
I've been using the Wax Bi-wire's for a month now. They are doing everything right in my ears. They tend toward the detailed ?analytical? side but don't fatigue. Big soundstage and great image. Got them 1/2 price on a Agon auction too! Like many c...
Recommended amp for Quad 57.
Thanks everone for sharing your experience. I wonder if his new old speakers are in good working condition. I'll make sure he checks it out prior to getting the right amp. I'll see if he wants to do SS or Tubes and go from there. Thanks for the ch...
