| Odd Combination/Insanity? I would only do that to an amp that I did not want. I have no idea what it would do to the amp seeing different electrical properties from the different spks. (The exception might be a dual mono amp?) You might consider a better set of spks. to en... | |
| At what price do amps start to sound I'm currently listening to a Rotel RB-960 Dual mono 60w amp (two transformers and 4o,ooo storage capacitance) that sounds VERY respectable. An absolute audio steal. Used around $200-280. Sounds "right" to my ears. Very recently owned two very fine... | |
| Audioquest King Cobra or Similar Cables Only way to know for sure is to buy a pr. USED. Listen to them in your system and get familiar w/their sound. THEN, buy something else and compare. You might to the conclusion that there are better IC's which offer more refinement and sound more m... | |
| "What's Your Best Price?" Ask what they are willing to offer. I would not ignore their email. I've found it's best to put in a fair and firm price to begin. | |
| Do preamps make good headphone amps? Most certainly! My Rotel RC-955 has both a great phono section as well drives my 600 ohm AKG M240's beautifully. | |
| Is there an optimal interconnect lenght? "Break-in" time and the time it takes to "settle-in" (Or "re-settle in" after being moved around) happens quicker in a shorter length IC. Nothing wrong in using a .5m Interconnect and will cost less as well. | |
| Modding NAD system: adding IEC & power cord ? I would highly recommend you replace the stock power cord on your amp as well as your CDP. Hugh improvement. I just replaced the stock 18ga. cord on my Rotel dual-mono RB-960BX amp w/ a 14/3 Belden cord w/ a Marinco AC plug. I decided to not to pu... | |
| new to site North Country Audio has new Rega TT's w/ glass platers at a very reasonable price. (They are located in the Cadance Building in NY, I believe.) Very respectable company. Bill | |
| Very confused... Noob help needed Sony made some very good int.amps/Rec's. (I own a TA-AX6 Int. amp, and an early 80's Rec's and an 1990 STR-GX60 Rec. and a few other vintage pieces.) I will say if they are matched to the right spk., they will make a very musical system. Spk. cabl... | |
| Large room but not large budget-suggestions please An older pr. of Snell floorstanders would be an outstanding choice. I own E/III's and J/IV's and these are both GREAT spks. Check out the Snell D/C/B's as well. Forget the Arro's. Too small for the room and IMO a little overpriced. The Vandersteen... | |
| Belden wire from Blue Jeans Cable? A double run of Kimber 4 VS is very good if your spks. are bi-wireable. Another most excellent/affordable spk. cable is Linn K400. Musical. Goodwin's Audio can make a pr. for a very reasonable price. Highly recommnded. | |
| Will I improve the qualitry of sound? Excellent previous posts. I doubt you will notice too much of a differnce. I'd consider a 200w RB-990 if you want to upgrade in the Rotel family or try a different amp. Some lower powered amps may sound more musical. Just recently bought a dual mo... | |
| Classic Pioneer table -upgrade cart or replace? Bought a Mint direct-drive Pioneer PL-660 TT on Ebay for a song and replaced the the stock conical P-mount AT needle w/ a much better Audio Technica AT 311EP cart.($40 J&R Music World) for a total cost of $85. Sounds pretty good to me. The TT ... | |
| Rotel RC995 preamp. 2 versions? My understanding is that the price was lowered to $700 when they were closing out the model. My unit was made in China. One seller on Ebay listed the unit he was selling as being made in Japan? Interesting. A great affordable pre-amp. | |
| preamp suggetions for mid lvl system The Rotel RC-955 is a very refined pre-amp. Not at all bright sounding. Musical best sums it up. I like this pre-amp better than the Bryston BP-25 which I owned previously. Plus, the Rotel has a superb phono section. For what these pre-amps are go... |
