Rega P3-24 & P5 owners..........
Hey Adam - glad you finally got the TT-PSU. You'll have to let us know if you decide to try Stringreen's suggestion, too, I would be curious to hear what you think. I have never had a vibration issue with my standard rubber feet on top of my Sanus...
Rega P5 owners
Another nice cartridge, especially for the money, is Rega's own Exact 2, which I have with my P5/RB700.
Tube Amp Noise with Klipsch Cornwall II
Hi, I also own the Cornwall II's, and can definitely state that they are not the problem. Tube amps work wonderfully with them, even the flea-wattage ones. I would suggest that the brightness you don't like is probably coming from the Rogue amp - ...
Symphony box set recommendations
Shostakovitch - Haitink's cycle is great. The premier Mahler conductor today is Claudio Abbado. For Bruckner, you can't beat Giulini, but I don't know if he ever recorded all of them. Not sure about complete sets of Dvorak or Prokofiev.
anyone use ikea for lp racks?
Are the Ikea shelves strong enough to hold multiple boxed sets on the same shelf? I have many opera and other boxed sets and was wondering if the extra weight of these would be an issue if they were on higher shelves.
Good "warm" CD player for $500
I'll second the Rega suggestion- you can find some of their older models in that price range
Are you in the over 30 K club??
Not even close - slightly less than 1/3 of that
Altec Lansing A7's 50's model
Dbphd, if by finesse you mean a more "laid-back" presentation (such as say the Sonus Faber line, for example), then no, the horns are not going to give you that. However, they are much more revealing of the various textures in the music than any o...
Altec Lansing A7's 50's model
My uncle owns a pair that he built in the 60's, I believe, and they are still some of the best speakers I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. His was the first truly high-end system I ever experienced. Go for it!
Best intro to tube integrateds?
I will add my vote to those for the PrimaLuna - I went with the Dialouge 2 and am very happy with it. I greatly preferred it to the Rogue Cronus, by the way, which is much brighter in comparison. I have not heard the Jolida or the Cayin, though my...
Which speakers are higher efficiency?
Agree with the posters saying you need 98dB efficiency at a minimum for that type of amp, especially if it is single-ended, in which case you will want even more efficiency if you are in a large room. Horns match very well, as others have said. Yo...
Cleaning solution
Agree with Chashas1 on the Audio Intelligent fluids. They work great, I use all three.
Would you pay to audition speakers
That is one of the crazier things I have ever heard of. Run don't walk out of that store.
Trying to get in to vinyl, turntable suggestions?
Johnnyb53, if my posts offended you in some way, I am truly sorry for that - I thought I made it pretty clear about when I was joking. If you disagree with what I posted about the sonic characteristics of these tables, why don't you try posting yo...
Trying to get in to vinyl, turntable suggestions?
Burnsy1, to answer your question, Rega makes several different tables in their line, so yes, there is plenty of room to upgrade in that line. I personally have the one in the middle of the line, the P5. That is their table in the $1500 range, and ...
