| Grado Reference Sonata on a Rega P5 ? You should also try the Exact 2 - that's what I have on mine, though I have heard the Dynavector is great on it as well. | |
| Denon 110 on Rega P5: nice What types of music are you mostly listening to? What other cartridges have you tried? I ask just for curiosity, I'm not implying any criticism or disagreement. I have an Exact 2 on my P5. | |
| Music Hall CD-25.2 VS Rega Apollo VS Rotel 1072??? I'll put in a vote for the Rega Apollo - I really like the sound of mine - I haven't ever heard a player I liked better. | |
| Yay or Nay As I understand it, and hear it, for that matter, the Rega CD players are designed to sound warmer, and more analog-like, than other CD players out there, and this is what gives it it's distinctive sound. I bought an Apollo myself for this reason.... | |
| VTL2.5 or PrimaLuna2: wich is better as preamp? I like my PrimaLuna Dialogue 2 quite a bit, but I have not heard the VTL stuff, so I can't help you with a comparison. | |
| Triode or Ultralinear I would agree with both Tvad and Atmasphere. I have the Dialogue Two, and have been having alot of fun exploring the difference between the two modes. The more I listen, the more things I personally prefer in the triode mode, especially vocals, ch... | |
| MoFi enzyme based cleaner and pure rinse I would highly recommend the AIVS fluids, I have had excellent results with them. Also, you might try leaving the enzymatic fluid on for a longer period of time, sometimes this makes a big difference. | |
| Turntable--Cartridge for the Rogue Audio Cronus I would highly recommend the Rega P5/Exact 2 combo, that's what I went with, and many retailers will give you a discount on the cartridge because you are buying the table. Get the TT-PSU, too, it makes a big difference. | |
| What's the Best LP You Bought in 2008 I have bought so much great vinyl this year, among my favorites are the Alfred Brendel Beethoven Sonata set from the 70's, the Dutch Philips pressings, the Bernstein/Marilyn Horne Carmen from DGG, several great Ella Fitzgerald Verve records, the L... | |
| Klipsch forte II what league are they in? There are many professional musicians, including myself, who feel that horn speakers, driven by tube electronics, are the closest thing you can get to the sound of live music. High-end sound does not have to come at a high price. I have a pair of ... | |
| How did you choose your equipment? All of these suggestions are great. As far as the audio magazines go, what you can do is read them over a long period of time, at least a year's worth, and try to determine what the reviewer's sonic tastes are and how they compare to your own. Thi... | |
| Speakers and Tube Amps I would second the horn recommendation in general, and the Klipsch Cornwall recommendation in particular, unless you have a small room, then maybe something smaller in the Klipsch Heritage line. I have Cornwall II's that have 101dB efficiency. The... | |
| Which is the most tubelike solid state amp around Ecka, there was a thread several months ago on another audio forum where SET amp lovers were asked what solid-state amp they would choose if a gun was held to their heads, and surprisingly the only company anyone actually mentioned was Naim. That ... | |
| Rega RB300 arm & Sumiko Blackbird - good match? I would third the Rega Exact 2 recommendation - I use one on my RB700. | |
| Jazz music recommended Charlie Parker and John Coltrane and Ornette Coleman are obvious choices if you like sax |
