Moody Blues "Question of bal." CD or SACD vs Vinyl
I have all Moody Blues major albums on original vinyl and on CD. I have all the US remaster version CDs, the MFSL version of Seventh Sojourn and had the original CD issue versions before.I also have many solo Moodies efforts on either vinyl or CD,...
B&W 800d's or MAGICO V3's?
Why are you considering this specific change?
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?
OMG, did anyone mention Dick Dale, the "King of the Surf Guitar"?saw him play once standing 5 feet in front of me! Most memorable concert experience ever.I always liked Duane Eddy as well.
Who is your overall favorite guitarist?

Small room, "budget priced" speaker advice, please
I'm suspecting multiple factors might contribute to what you heard with the Ushers, speaker design, room acoustics maybe combined with tube amplification could result in the sound stage characteristics you describe. Having small front ported speak...
Small room, "budget priced" speaker advice, please
I haven't heard Totems for quite a while but recall loving them for much the same reasons you state when I did.Interesting about the Usher soundstage. I am not familiar enough with them to say why for sure. More "intimate" room acoustics by design...
Table/Cartridge price ratio
Table/cartridge price ratio is not a useful measure.I've never heard two cartridges that sound the same so generally you will never get the same results with two different cartridges in the same rig. The only component I hear more variation in fro...

Thinking about selling Vinyl collection - long
If they are in good condition, and are good pressings, you might be surprised what some less common titles or special pressings might go for on ebay. I'd spend some time looking at prices for these on ebay and sell those that have value individual...

agree with buscis2.Triangle high end is NOT harsh, just very revealing. If you need close to wall, front port is preferred to back port. My Triangles are front port, my Dynaudios back. Also, my Triangles may still be the most accurate speakers I own.
speakers for classical music
I looked it up on the American Hearing organization website that symphony orchestra can in fact peak at over 115Db, however they also say that to listen to 115DB for more than 15 minutes per day is not recommended.Of course, this certainly should ...
speakers for classical music
"A live orchestra can reach 115db peaks BTW"Is that standing among the musicians in front of the brass and percussion or out in the seats? In that I am a spectator not a musician, my perspective may be different. I usually like to sit back from the...
In your opinion, what is Hi, Medium and Low end?
Shadorne, funny, I owned and used a Zerostat back in the day. It did do what it was advertised to do, but I never found static on vinyl to be such an earth shattering issue for me with my custom and quite proprietary record cleaning technique (see...
Small room, "budget priced" speaker advice, please
Upscale's description is accurate regarding Triangles exceptional speed and imaging which is very "Maggie Like" and best in class, in my opinion. This makes them best in class in my opinion for use at lower listening volumes/SPLs.I would probably ...
