At What Age Does An Audiophile Buy His Last Amp?
Holocene epoch for sure.
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Bje, if you meant do I own the company (OHM) as opposed to the product, well, unfortunately the answer is no.Maybe John Strohbeen will hire me as a promoter someday. I could live with that!
Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
Bjen,Check my system listing. I own 3 pair actually, 2 newer and a pair of older OHM Ls that I have held onto for many years and refurbed myself. I also concurrently run Dynaudio and Triangle speakers.Yes, I walk the walk and talk the talk when it...
Still mystified by mega expensive power cords
I tend to view a power cords role of delivering power as separate from filtering or purifying the power. Not to say a power cord might not do both, kind of like how an integrated amplifier serves dual roles in one package. Lots of ways to skin a c...
tube amps and electrostatics
"ARC Ref 150 has muscle power and a large reserve power supply, plus my speakers are reasonably sensitive (92 db)"That's a pretty solid combo on paper that should be capable of delivering the goods with the right tweaks. No system is inherently go...
How did your sound system evolve?
Yes, nice web page! For me (less graphic):pre-1977: the low fi years, various compact boxes making music1977: First real hifi system, all Lafayette gear built around a 40 watt integrated amp and heil AMT speakers (and many blown tweeeters). My firs...

Ohm Walsh Micro Talls: who's actually heard 'em?
"If you sit in the sweet spot of a conventional speaker, would the Ohm's differ if you dropped them into the same spot? IOW, is it only when you start moving out of the sweet spot that omni speakers start to shine?"Sweet spot is usually much bigge...

Happy music...
Rite of spring is pretty upbeat as well.
tube amps and electrostatics
Wouldnt two ohm or less impedance at high frequency be much easier for a ss amp in particular to deal with than if it were low? Way less power needed for high frequencybthan low. Or is it more complicated than that?

Es speakers are special and worth any special effort needed. Plus you have some good sidekicks here that can help to get them singing.
