shindo vs. atma-sphere
Have not heard Shindo, but agree Atmasphere is good place for a vinyl lover to be. Have heard phono through atmasphere amp, but do not recall what pre-amp was used. Can't imagine anything vinyl related that says atmasphere on it not sounding top n...
Recapturing the JBL L100 Century
"What if I told you, Mapman, that I have a pair of Ohm F's in my garage waiting to be refurbished? Vastly different than C2's r the L's, but intruiging none the less"Getting those Walsh drivers on those OHMs refurbished properly is extremely trick...
Recapturing the JBL L100 Century
I recall those JBLs specifically from years ago working at a Tech HiFi part time during college.Speaker and amp technology and options have come a long way since then. SO its hard to compare stuff from back then to today. I would feel confident in...
Your Preference: Resolution or Fullness?
"Some might argue that the latter (reflected energy) ends up obscuring the former (high resolution direct signal), but IME, that's highly room and set-up dependent."I'm in the opposite camp.Sound (including detail) is a 4-d (including time dimensi...
Tubes vs Solid State - Imaging, Soundstaging, 3D
I think the sonic benefits of NF is pretty well documented and understood as are the drawbacks (nothings perfect). The fact that it is so widely applied would seem to speak for itself in terms of overall merit. No NFB would seem to be the exception,...

"For the time being designers have yet to universally recognize the importance of human hearing rules in audio design, so we are likely to see considerable differences in opinion for quite some time :) "Few things are ever "universally" realized. ...
Your Preference: Resolution or Fullness?
Gotta do both pretty well and sound good overall. Lots of good affordable gear is capable of both. The main keys to both together is often getting a good integration with room acoustics and an amp that is 100% up to the task of driving the speakers...

Back on the "life is too short" topic, see ThisPaul and Yoko now buddy buddys. "Life is very short...." indeed!

World Series Buzz
That might be the critters in the RS beards. See if it gets louder during interviews. :^)
Tubes vs Solid State - Imaging, Soundstaging, 3D
I did find this dewscription of the difference between noise and distortion. It would seem to infer that noise is a "random" artifact.Artifacts resulting from NF would not seem to be random, so I am wondering if that qualifies as noise and can be...
Tubes vs Solid State - Imaging, Soundstaging, 3D
Cutting tech hairs perhaps, but I'm wondering what is the distinction between noise and distortion? Wouldn't the harmonic artifacts introduced by NF be considered a form of distortion rather than noise?I think of "hiss" as a form of noise. I think...
Tubes vs Solid State - Imaging, Soundstaging, 3D
Well, all that matters usually comes out in the end. You just have to trust your ears. There is no equation or theory that can account for that 100%. My view is there are many aspects of design that matter. I've yet to determine that any single on...

"In my experience, SS always seems to image more sharply and offer the deepest, clearest field. "Apparently, not the case. Unless no negative feedback is used. At least not in some ways.
Integrated Recommendation
The ROgue specs I've read indicate doubling power output from 100 watts into 8 ohm to 200 into 4 ohms. That's not a guarantee but a good omen for getting good performance out of the Manis.Class D amps require less beefy power supplies in order to ...
