''Hissing'' from speakers....cause ?
I had exactly the same situation that is audiable with some amps and with some amps it's less audiable. When I replaced tweeter, everything had straightened out. I even had come to the point when I had to block the tweeter with soft paralone so it...
Audio Research LS-7 with Mccormack DNA 125?
McCormack Micro Line Drive thumbs up for your case. Try to hunt this unit for $300...400 that literally kills the newer and more expencive TLC.McCormack amps are sencitive and need low-gain preamps or passive ones. LS-7 is a high gain preamp that ...
Anyone heard the Mantra speakers?

Ever popped a circuit breaker with audio gear?
Yeah, when the washer was on and I was trying to over scream that in the same circuit line:-)
Does Tube Output CDP work as Tube Preamp ?
tube output of cd-player is identical to the differential input of tube preamp.tubes have already embedded low-pass filter and UHF correction thus filter distructive HF amplitudes that may damage speaker pratcticall with no additional and complica...
Help Troubleshoot - Left Ch. Louder than Right Ch.
It could even be simplier than bias: bad tube!
Fixed Bias vs. Adjustable
Zaike,It's a trade-off...By embedding an electronic bias circuit you get rid of noisy potentiometers by nature and introducing Zenner diodes i.e. SS "intruders". Well anywhay VTL and many more tube amps are using SS power supplies so why not get a...
which amp to best drive big ML's?
Not realy 4Ohm or 3Ohm is the major problem of ML-s. Their problem is in upper range where impedance sometimes jumps to 35Ohms!I'd suggest combining in bi-amp setup tube and SS amps together.
Fixed Bias vs. Adjustable
Most of the the power amplifiers especially tubed ones ought to be with adjustable bias. For the tube amps working in SET operation biasing is still on demand since tubes do have a large parameter tolerance between each other hence it's important ...
A Tough Question
so who's gonna survive at the end YOU or your POSSESSION?
wooden floors or carpet?
I actually have several layers of records glued together. Under my Totems enogh having only one 12" record but other speakers may need more record surfaces under. Maybe three groups of 7" ones will do. It's acutally looks nice too!Mostly I have lo...
wooden floors or carpet?
after a number of experimets of what to place under the speakers i figured that the best surface is vinyl record placed over the carpet.you can leave your wood floors but lay a pieces of carpet and your bad and scratched analogue records under the...
